We should sign one, but which one would be best?

    Michael Turner
    Willis McGahee
    Cedric Benson
    Mewelde Moore? (haha)
    Dwyer

I think if we get any of the first three, they would at least provide leadership to our younger backs (Bell), but at this point...any of them would probably be able to run for more than -8 yards...

I think I'd rather have Kevin Smith. He's still a free agent too.
If I had to pick one from your list, I'd go McGahee, even if he's recovering from a broken leg.

McGahee. I wouldn't want any of the other guys. We need playmakers, not plodders

Sign them all and we can start a new list next week when half off them get hurt or fumble twice.

None of them, Bell is still the future and Red is better then he showed today. The line was horrific.

Given that our pedigreed OL (four top round picks) couldn't come close to doing the one thing they are decent at (run block) against one of the worst D's in the league, I don't really think it will matter who carries the rock. Barry Sanders couldn't run behind our OL. Something is seriously rotten in the Steelers organization

Are there any FA play makers available at this point? The best players at RB are probably on teams. The Steelers would be better served to bring back Dwyer. And that's only because he knows the offense.

Hard for me to get my hopes up for a rookie who never played in a regular season game and only had four carries for nine yards in pre-season.

    Sad but probably true...

I would be surprised if Dwyer comes back. Is McNeil still around? Do we not have an RB on the PS?

I'm fairly certain we will see a RB move in the next couple days. Not sure if there is one on the PS. I liked McNeil, would be happy to see him back but don't think he would be much help this season.

Doesn't take long for a RB to learn the playbook. We don't need to bring Dwyer back just because he knows the offence.

They said Jones doesn't know the playbook and whiffed on a block early that almost got Ben killed......It does take time to learn a playbook

We'll go w/ Jones until the Bell rings.

If they bring anyone in, it's Dwyer if Tomlin can handle it.

by next weeks game felix will have been here 3 + weeks. plenty of time for a vet to learn the playbook. I seriously doubt dwyer would look any better behind this line.

he got most of his yards against 2nd tier guys in preseason so leading rusher is a stretch. last years 600+ yards is not starter material either.

Actually Dwyer started with the starters alot of this preseason....Dwyer was the #1 back with Redman and Bell and LSH on the bench.

EDIT: and really no where have I ever said Dwyer is STARTER material...or a PRO BOWL RB....What I have said is he was the BEST BACK ON THE TEAM until proven otherwise...and that still is true

    acknowledged.

I still hold to the o-line as # 1 priority before we worry about RB. i'm very concerned bell won't last and may end up with a surgery on that fot before it's over. which then still takes us back to jones, redman, or dwyer starting , which is not where we need to be.

If we get a back it should TOTALLY be for pass protection reasons. We are not gonna run the ball this year guys and that's just the reality of it. We need pure pass protectors. Our offense is only going as far as Ben is protected and that's that. Period.

Looks like Felix and DJ were confused on the goal line package that fumbled.

I just watched the vid on steelers.com and Redman said he was to be in there with Felix...but Felix wasnt in the game...and they tried to scramble and get him in there...however they didnt have time so Redman told DJ to go to the RB position.

Redman basically blamed the fumble on that too. Well that in conjunction with Beachum not being a good center.
