Great article that I also read Blast it was extremely insightful and unfortunately I think closer to the mindset of my fellow Pittsburghers then Id really like to admit.

Stereotypes are around for a reason and those generalization are that generalizations. But, one can not forget they become generalizations because of actions displayed. The generalizations move to stereotypes when they become taboo or pop culture and move to the realm of comedy. I can type one six letter word that begins with N and make white people cringe yet said while I am doing stand up its comical... maybe.

I unfortunately ran into an article months ago that made me embarrassed, for the first time, when my girlfriend found it, that i was from Pittsburgh. After I read it, I realized that it wasn't far off from what i grew up in and around with certain people in my life. I feel because Mike Tomlin is black and the majority of our players are black that some feel like they are "boys" and there is a separation between THEM and OUR team. There was no question of camaraderie with Cowher; in truth we still relish the chin spitting on his black players. In his retirement speech Cowher said how " I am one of you, YINZ know what im talking about." Hell, i feel like we should envoke SNL; someone call up Norm from Cheers we got a new skit "Who would win in a fight God or Cowher?"

Im not calling all Tomlin criticizers racist by any means. But the fact that some call him a players coach leaves me to question the rational behind the comment. Maybe its just those shades but I have never once heard or read how buddy buddy he was with his players or being called a players coach, Ill leave that quality to Rex Ryan.

I love the message Tomlin is sending. The "disruption" that some may see in the locker room I see being called out to succeed. You dont want a committee or rotation, then give me a reason not to have it. That is accountability and strength. Let us remember Tomlin was hired and can be fired, I guarantee he is well aware.

I can understand why there is disdain for what he does or does not do. We expect perfection from things we love and we love the Steelers.

It's against board rules to discuss racism and things of that nature so I'll leave that part alone but I do like how Tomlin is setting an example, get with the program or find yourself another team. And I am sure it's a collaborative effort from the Rooneys to Colbert to Tomlin, you could see the direction they were going in the draft, high character guys, cutting of guys who won't get in line and being unsentimental as Tomlin put it.

Tomlin is no pushover and I guarantee you his players don't think he is.

Great article, if only for it being based on more evidence than the standard criticisms of Tomlin around here.

I'm half surprised that nobody has seen that Zoltan pic as a clear indication that Tomlin has no control over his players, because Cowher would never let such a pose be made public. Or something.

Let's be honest, We're all expecting Belichek-like control, but if we had that, we'd be *****ing about not getting anything from the players.

I actually see a lot of similarities between Tomlin and Bill as far as the media is concerned. I've heard the Pats say that Bill tells them "when you win say little and when you lose say less" and I think Tomlin is sorta like that. As a matter of fact, I bet Tomlin wishes he would've thought of that saying. LOL!

I'm all for a year-long rotation. Unless Worilds just looks terrible, which I doubt, I think it can't hurt to keep both of them fresh, and it could help to keep the OT a little off-balance. I also think there's less "rhythm" involved in rushing the passer than there is at other positions, like we discussed at RB.

I like what Foote said about that..."keep sacking the quarterback and they can't take you off the field" . Says everything that I want to hear.

Not well at all Hines. Let's hope Redman gets alot of carries and punishes their defense like he can. At least with Redman you know he is not going to tap out like JD

    Can't wait for Sunday
