Me too. That had a lot to do with BA, and a lot to do with his timidness after breaking his leg. Not to mention the blocking that we had by 2008.[/quote:7q1cgr16]

:amen: We need a "you guys just took the words right out of my mouth" emoticon for this part of the thread. Since there isn't I'll just go with :this!: . I personally would rather have a runner bust 6-10 yard runs 10 -15 times per games than two 60 yarders. Those long ones don't exactly add up to points. But, if I see a guy is eating chunks of yards I know he is sustaining multiple drives, probably converting 3rd downs and wearing down a defense. I hate when I look at a stat sheet and it's like 120 yds for the day on 10 carries with a long of 70. I shouldn't say hate, but it isn't as telling as my other example. With all A. Peterson's or C. Johnson's gaudy numbers it hasn't resulted in squat for their teams. Even when K. Stewart was our QB, Bettis' style contributed to more in our decent seasons than either of those guys. And nobody was asking Jerome to break off huge runs. Even Whiz misused the Bettis/Parker a bit I think.

I missed the game was working late....I just heard the announcers say that Mendenhall ran 4 times from the GL and could not get in.......If this is true where is Redzone who is ranked #2 in the NFL on short yardage conversion and is ranked 3rd. in Yards after contact....

The one thing I can see from the stats is he was at close to 6 YPC and only got 6 totes????????What the hell is going on in BA'S mind??????

Redman is a stud and he has proved it so failure to use him in crucial spots is criminal......BA should not only be Fired he should be jailed for sabotage and Impersonating a Football Coach....

Your QB is wounded severly and he still is not willing to lean on the run?????Reminds me of the other Browns game with 19 degree temps and 50 MPH wins with 50 passes......

Someone needs to stop his BS immediately......

Yep I see......And after reading the game thread I don't think I need to watch the game.....I am so over his lack of knowledge dor the game........I am also to me wits end with his use of Talent and his failure to protect our QB....

Heck he acts like Redman is the guy who has a 100 Million dollar contract and Ben and Mendy are making 400 k a year........If your going to ride someone to the wheels fall off why not do it when the money makes sense?Esp. when the production is there......

Redman is a resricted FA next year I hope if BA stays they let him go........No need to keep him if we refuse to use him let the kid go and make some dough for his peeps......At least give him a chance to show the skills he has in the area his skills are best suited for....

I swear sometimes I feel I'm part of a Truman Show type experiment. How did Redman get his nickname anyway? I thought it had something to do with his prowess in the redzone, somebody oughta remind our brain dead OC. They shoulda brought him in after 1st and 2nd down. I wouldn't have been crazy about a playaction pass but with a three TE set it probably would have completely fooled the defense. They definitely would have expected Redman to get the ball after Mendy couldn't punch it in. Play action on 3rd, run Redman on 4th or vice versa= Touchdown. This is what really frustrates me about BA he doesn't use his personell or formations correctly to keep the defense off balance.

You mean like the start of the 2nd half when our first pass (after 4-5 straight runs) was out of shotgun empty-set? It's like he was saying to the Browns defense "Here's my gimpy QB who can barely walk, and yes, it WILL be a pass!" Why not keep a back or two in there to at least keep them somewhat honest and protect our QB?

Also don't understand why Redzone didn't get a redzone touch.

I'm so sick and tired of seeing Redman standing on the sidelines and SOCRATES MENDENHALL getting his butt kicked with his high running self.
Please, please, please, like James Brown said. Time to get rid of FAT KEMO & SOFT SOCRATES MENDENHALL & BRUCE ARIANS!!!!!!!!!!

Soft Socrates Mendenhall with his high running soft self. I am convinced that he is not the one. This man had four tries, count them four tries from the three yard line to get into the endzone and he got his butt kicked, all the while Redman is standing on the sidelines watching. Redman is probably thinking on the sidelines, they have absolutely no respect for my talents at all. I would have gotten that ball into the endzone. That as a sorry display as a running back in the NFL. For the life of me, I can't understand how Arians can do the stupid stuff that he does. Redman is your money back in short yardage situations, not Socrates Mendenhall. I swear, this boy is soft as cotten. I'm screaming at the TV saying where is Redman!!! I think Redman had a 5.8 yard per carry in the game with only 8 touches. My wife who knows very little about football is saying that is absolutely unexceptable while watching Mendenhall getting stopped four times from the three yard line.

Now, let me say this about Bruce Arians. He has no imagination at all. He does not have a clue on how to develop a running game. He is a stupid brain for not letting Redman be the short yardage and goal line back. How in the world can Tomlin let this stupid stuff happen? I blame him for not getting Redman more touches. When asked in the post game if Tomlin thought about putting Redman down at the goal line, he said NO period! How can he sit up their and say that with such authority? At this point I feel that Redman should get more touches then Mendenhall. Sit his butt down and let Redman show him how it is done. Time out for the BS. Redman is the perfect back for this late season weather. Hard nose back for the tuff situations.

This is what I have to say about that:

FIRE BRUCE ARIANS IMMEDIATLY and send SOCRATES MENDENHALL with him. Send them both packing. I'm sure the Steelers can do better in the draft or free agency then Mendenhall.

Number 2, that was the last stand for FAT KEMO. His time is up. Send him packing along with Mendenhall and Arians. He is absolutely a detriment to the team. This man played about two and a half quarters and got about three penalties. One time he got called for holding and his man almost sacked Ben. If you are going to get called for holding, your man should not put pressure on the QB. You talk about shooting your self in the foot. He single handily killed some drives with his penalties.

If you don't agree with getting rid of these three detriments to the team it makes no difference. My opinion is never going to change until they are gone. It's time to make a change. A change is gonna come. Vote these clowns out of town.

FIRE BRUCE ARIANS IMMEDIATELY & GET RID OF SOCRATES MENDENHALL & FAT KEMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why didn't we kick the FG? why didn't redman get a carry? why did redman miss a block on a blitzing LB and allow him to hit our gimpy qb? why did kemo completely whiff on his trap block down at the goaline? there were absolutely no hole to run through on any of the 4 plays down there. it didn't matter who had the ball. the only statement we made down there was the o-line blew it and the coach blew it by not going up 7 points at that point in the game. failure all around, not just mendy.

Mac, this is what I saw and what I took away from the situation myself. Cleveland put up a brick wall and our line allowed it. I can't think of any back that would have broke through that hole.

I've seen Redman run into walls and still manage to pick up some yardage. We have no idea if Redman would have scored but the fact he wasn't given a chance is what is bothering so many of us.

What I'm so confused about is some comments I thought I heard from the commentators.... I didn't DVR the game, but I think in the 2nd quarter, I swear the commentators were saying that Arians knows someone either related to or friends with Redman and Arians was the reason Redman got a shot to try out for the team.

What's the point if you don't use him? They started to run the ball well once Ben went down, but I fell asleep midway through the 3rd quarter.

In case nobody read the article up on Steelers.com with Tomlin's comments from the game...

"Did you have any thoughts on giving Isaac Redman the football on the two-yard line?
    No. "

Seriously!? I've been a big Tomlin fan, but asinine comments like this blow my mind. Everybody under the sun knows that Mendy struggles when it comes to the power running game, and that Redman typically gains at least a yard even after being hit... yet that's still the call. Wow...

Mendy is not a power back. it made no sense t have him run the ball 4 straight times on the goal line. Redman is the power back and he needs to get the ball inside the 10.
