Dwyer rushed for more yards than any other back in camp, I think he was a Tomlin SPITE cut more than based on his production, we also only have 8 linebackers on the roster, that's the thinnest we have been at LB that I can remember, not much depth for going into a long season....

it all boils down to 2 injured starting TE's, an injured FB and an injured RB. all subject to change at some point.

spite? not really. dwyer has seen the end zone 3-4 times in 4 years. pass protection and pass catching are nowhere near redman over that time.

Notice nobody on that last had a touch down?
Seems like that might be the real problem!

I really don't understand releasing Dwyer, he was our workhorse in preseason, the leading rusher on this team last year, had a 4.0 average per carry the best of running backs with ten or more carries in preseason. Bell had and average of what 2.3 yards in four carries woopee, Redman hurt, Bell hurt, Jones new to our system but failed on other teams and they release Dwyer makes no sense. I think Tomlin had a personal vendetta against Dwyer for some reason besides losing the ball. Seems to me they are playing a hoping game keeping unproven running backs new to our system.

Dwyer did have a recieving TD and Robinson recovered a fumble for a TD ... both gone; I'm pretty sure we only had 5 (maybe 6) TD's total in the preseason, and yes that is the REAL problem.

Wasn't there even trade rumors at the end of last season? I've been thinking that since he got cut and thought I really shouldn't be as surprised as I am if they were already shopping him anyway. Am I conjuring up something that didn't even happen?

Wow, really, judging Bell off of four carries? Take the emotions out of it, has nothing to do with a vendetta, Redman is everything Dwyer is, they are the same back and Red blocks better, really not a shocker.

These guys that are critical of Bell at this point are ridiculous.
I was surprised by Dwyer getting cut as I felt he has more upside than Redman.
I used to not care one way or the other about Redman until that one guy here( can't remember his name) pimped him so much and made those unrealistic predictions about him lighting it up that it made me wish the Steelers would cut him. What ever happened to that guy?

He's still around. I've always been a big supporter of Redman and predicted he'd get the start. It should be easier to see why some of us say what we do about Redman very soon. Obviously the team sees more in him than Dwyer, too.

Getting rid of Dwyer is a good move. He isn't bad, just not good enough to start in the NFL. Prediction - Jones will pass Redman in the depth chart early in the season and will be our leading rusher this year. Bell won't be ready to play until second half of the season and won't be ready to start until next year.

but they kept him on the team to see what he can do and get experience... why did they give dwyer the time? they knew what he could do ... were we simply filling the backfield since the rest of the guys were hurt.... landry is totally differnt .. they played him for an obvious reason... to see what he had.. and let him gain experience .... can you say thats why they played dwyer? i cant.. they knew what they had in him.. they didnt neeed to see him all preseason .. he was the same as hes been the last couple years?

at least redman always came to camp in shape... surely cant say that for dwyer until this last camp and by that time i think tomlin had enough of him coming in out of shape... and to me if u give the ball to redman or dwyer on 4th and goal from the 2 redman is gonna fight a hell of a lot harder to get to the EZ than dwyer.. totally agree with your assessment of the 2

Redman is an ok backup. I'm ok with him being a Steeler, but he's not going to be a feature back. He's never proven he's starter quality NFL RB nor does he have the pedigree. he's been here four years and done what? Yeah he's looked decent in spot duty, but that's it. Thank god we have Bell.

And also 1500 yards returning. That's over 1000 all purpose yards per year for 5 years.

Then why do you think the Cowgirls let him go and the Iggles traded him for a bologna sandwich?

Aye, good point Hines. I wonder if they were giving Dwyer the opportunity to impress - not just them (maybe not them at all), but also any prospective trade partners.

I was gonna say that too. They also think Tony Romo is a franchise qb and Jason Garrett is a good coach and they are ran by the biggest moron in the NFL. I'm not saying that I think Jones is something awesome. I'm just saying that it speaks well for him that the Cowgirls let him go because they are some pretty big idiots anyway. LOL.
