When that coach has reason to be dishonest for the sake of pumping up his own guy, the wise thing is to take his comments with a grain of salt. Perhaps counting on wisdom was silly of me.

You can’t compare last year to this year at all. Tomlin rarely if ever disguised blitzes. You need to good press man corners so the opposing offense can’t get the ball out quick. Hopefully we solved that with adding Dean this year provided JPJ signs. Ramsey playing the slot will be huge in run support and blitzing. Our run defense last year was terrible so opposing offenses were in third and manageable situations and making them more unpredictable. Our run defense last defense should be markedly better this year with a bigger and deeper dline, Ramsey in the box at nickel and Dean on the outside at cb. The scheme is new and by all accounts allows the ilb’s to play more reactive and aggressive instead of over thinking. If we can keep teams behind the sticks and third and long it makes the quick -assign game,e much harder es-edit;oh with two press man cb’s to disrupt the timing and provide the front seven that extra split second to get to the qb. We also have a deeper dline that should remain fresher with rotation which will help late in e in the season.
