I bought a can of chipped beef to make SOS because my wife never heard of it

And the jar is still in my pantry because I can’t make myself make it

    Have a favorite recipe?

If such a thing exists ;)

Seems like a good conversation for “what’s cooking”

No. I pick it up at my favorite restaurant called my mother's house on my way home. I actually never made it for myself, but I only live about 6 miles away from them now. So i visit more now than I ever have

    How do you make it

I am only doing this once for my wife and I don’t want to screw it up if that is possible

Me too. Mom used to make it, she called it creamed dried beef.
Dad was in the navy and called it that "Shut on a shingle" term.

Was so delicious (and cheap to make for a family on the lower middle class rung).

Dad made fried baloney when mom was working the evening shift (handing us kids off at a neutral parking lot). I much preferred the creamed beef platter over fried baloney (or spam) and hominy (yuck).

We were headed into Scotland to re-up. Could see the coastline but the damn Ruskies launched their first aircraft carrier so we had to turn around. We ate Pancakes and S.O.S for 2 straight weeks. And now that damn carrier is a museum over there.

Nothing is good for two straight weeks of eating it

I agree. I wanted to see more of the starters in the PS, especially on the OL.

I make a roux with butter and flour, add milk until you get a creamy thickness and add some garlic and black pepper (see edit below). Once you have the taste you like in the sauce, I add the dried beef and simmer it for a few minutes. The end result should be the consistency of sausage gravy.

Put it on buttered white toast.

    I'm hungry!

ETA: Some of the jarred beef can be really salty, taste it and rinse it if needed.

I'm curious when people think the O-line will come together? We have some solid young talent, we have a coach who has to be better than his predecessor, and we have AR who will demand smart play.

I'm hoping by the Paris game they will be looking solid.

If you're ever up north, there is a restaurant in Kane called "Texas Hot" that makes it awesome!

My prediction last year was likely by Week 8. My prediction this season will be Week 5. Better question is how much longer will Dylan Cook keep the starting role? That is a better question.

Personally?! I have seen enough. If not Laiatu Latu, Reuben Bain will be the one who gets Cook benched. Dude cannot handle speed to power at all.

6 or 7 games sounds about right. I think Bettis has talked extensively about it being a month plus to get it to all come together for o line and run game.

i expect they will look quite different by the time the starters are on the field. i mean rodgers, DK, pittman, and our TE's and RB's. we won't have 2 young QB's trying to read things going on. that extra second or half a second will make a difference of them looking better. JMO.

It is time for some of these players to look in the mirror and realize that they are the problem.
And to take pride in their performance. Quit blaming youth, coaching all other BS.
