I don’t know if they will do it, but I wish they would act on the Henry Davis situation. He is hitting .170 and that seems to be about what he is. Career WAR close to zero I think, meaning you could pick up the phone, call a team, and get a catcher from their AAA club, and he would be about as productive or better. The Pirates did exactly that today with the Yankees.
In an ideal world, by this time next year Hank Davis will be off playing pinochle with Ozuna and Santana, and Flores will have established himself and will be entrenched at catcher. Hank’s relationship with Skenes is keeping him on a major league roster, to the detriment of the club.

Just saw where Nicky Gonzo is now leading the NL in batting at .310. He's been very consistent these last 2 months. A real collapse by those other guys from Atlanta and Miami who were tearing it up all summer. This would be super if he hangs on. First since Freddy Sanchez back in 2006 with an amazing .344 avg, just sneaking past Miguel Cabrera the last weekend of the season. He also made the ASG that year as voted by the fans. Despite the overall dismal past, the Bucs have produced quite a few batting champs over the years. So there's that.

Pirates should of sent Cook back to Indy and not Simon. Cook has been a disappointment.

I just need 11 wins or less to win Prediction Poll on another Pirate message board. I had 74 wins on there and it was lowest win total prediction. Just lose baby.

Bucs have 30 games left as of 8/24 or as Pirate fans sing, "30 days in the hole", some old Humble Pie.

Skenes and Cruz. Who needs any more? Two very efficient W's. Love how they've cooled off the red hot Friars and a few of those hitters. We could pass the Cards (who are now swooning badly) this weekend. Hope springs.............

If not for them damn Dodgers it would have been a great road trip. If we could have snagged just 1 win in La La land.......

    AI Overview

The Pittsburgh Pirates' longest winning streak for the 2026 Major League Baseball season is 5 games, achieved early in the year from late March through April 5, before being snapped by the San Diego Padres on April 6, 2026. [1, 2]

Technically the Bucs should win at least 4 of the next 6 against the lowly Giants and Angles who have each lost almost twice as many games as they've won on the road. However, the Angles just blasted the Yankees yesterday 10-1 and SF beat Atlanta 7-3 in Atl. Go Figure. Kinda starts with which Skenes will show up tonight and how much support will he get from this hot and cold O?

Well looks like bad Skenes showed up tonight blowing a 2 run 1st inning lead and giving up 5 straight runs in the 2nd sitting now at nearly 50 pitches. 5-2 Giants. This is Keller-like pitching

    But
    Nothing wrong with him
If there isn’t nothing wrong with Skenes we are in trouble

Hitters took 2 seasons to figure out Skenes
They seem to have him figured out pretty well now
Hopefully its just an off year
    I harp on BP
If Skenes could've won 3 or 4 more of his starts
    Bucs be sitting pretty good
