He was good enough to keep Warren's ass on the bench for three years.

I would not rely on Tomlin,Matt Canada or Arthur Smith on that...I mean look at the final game of Matt Canada as OC when Warren was our best player on offense in that game in Cleveland but he was on the bench for most of the fourth quarter...And for Arthur Smith, look at the way he use his TE last year,it was just brutal

Simms was tough in his evaluation, but he always gave the reasons why being the program he was in and he openly said he was rooting for the kid because he deserved better than he got. I can understand how some people looked at him and thought he had too much bad burned into his game and he would never be able to overcome that.

I think it's really cool of Simms to say that about Allar. I think he wants the kid to succeed and is making sure he gets it out there that he is showing some real promise.

With that said, we may have something with Allar, but there is still raw ability and a long, long way to go with his game before I can say he's going to be the guy.

His processing is ahead of schedule, but he still lacks the trust and the belief in what he sees and hesitates too often. He needs to completely buy in, trust what he is seeing, and let it rip while playing on time a little more often. That may come with more time in the system and playing with better players, but he's not there yet and there is still much more he needs to show before we really know.

He was better than Warren for the three years they played together. End of story.

Moving on from him cost them a wasted draft pick on Johnson, so they ended up paying Dowdle more than they are paying Warren. They clearly see what I saw in Warren's limitations. That is why he could never unseat Harris as the starter.

The only thing Harris had the edge over Warren is durability and the volume,so a but more yards because of that. But in every other stats,Warren had the edge.

Just 1 RB in your team is not enough in the current NFL...Can't have a player with 400 touch in a season, unless this is a Derrick Henry type running or he will running to the ground

He got the volume because they thought playing him more and giving him the ball more gave them the best chance to win games.

Agreed, which is why my argument was never to keep Harris and let Warren go. It was to keep both for one more year, then find someone else to pair with Warren.

Its his thing. He can't like something without downing something else. Lots of people like this. I've never understood it.

Harris was very replacable...Our running game was better last season too without Harris

I never could understand why people couldn't like both of them. They worked well together, but some people can't like something without downing the other.

When someone asks later why we are having the same Najee Harris argument again, the first post below is where it started, and the second one escalated it.

We all really need the season to start.

As a former QB I used to put stock into what Chris Simms says. Each year I think a little less of him.Allar is 22 and still growing into a pro quarterback by the month. He has exceeded expectations in camp and the preseason. It’s a shame his receivers dropped a high number of his passes (8–10) this preseason. Those box-score hits matter more outside the building than they do inside it.Once he is throwing to the 1s and 2s, that arm will bring those players to life. Bank on it. A lot of NFL quarterbacks take a noticeable step in year two. The check-down game will come with time.During the draft I liked Simpson better, and he killed it this preseason. Long term, Allar’s upside may still be greater.

It really wasn't, but there were a handful of monster games against terrible opposition that made it look better than it was.

The point was that they didn't have to replace him yet. They could have used that third-round pick on other needs.

I'm going to laugh my ass off if Harbaugh has to turn to Harris after Skattebo hurts himself again. Not that Harris is even a lock to make that team, which already had three decent backs, but I know quite a few Giants fans who like him. Skattebo isn't great at pass protection, and Tracy is awful at it, while Harris has been strong in that area almost from the start.

I can said the same thing for Harris and the steelers in 2024.Without the 3 games in a row against the raiders, jets and giants the running game was one of the least effective in the NFL in 2024

This exactly. Folks mistake my realism about Warren's limitations for being down on the guy. I love Warren, but I see him for what he is.

I didn't see Warren starting or getting the majority of touches or snaps when Harris was a Steeler. Oh, that's right. Harris did all those things because he was better.

It hasn't been good for a while. The offense suffered from poor design for years. The line play hasn't been good. The quarterback play hasn't been good. Harris produced despite all of that, but some of y'all think he sucked. It's comical.

I still dont see Harris here. Funny enough I do see Warren here.

Steelersfan43 would need to post about 500 more times to be in your ballpark.

Also, you responded before me so dont falsely accuse me, understood.
