Maybe. Just like all of you are saying that he's an egomaniac, that he's demanding this and demanding that.

You don't have a clue what is going on, or if the team made an offer and what that offer or offers were. You don't have any real information, yet you are accusing Porter of all kinds of things with no comments on what the team may or may not be offering or their own behavior or actions in this process.

If all of you here were in the position that Joey Porter Jr is in, you would have your agent fighting for every dollar you could get. This BS of saying and thinking every player needs to do with less money than they are worth in the system they participate in because it suits you is ignorant and selfish. If you were at your place of employment negotiating your pay, and they were offering you an amount that is getting paid to people that couldn't hold your jockstrap, you would be furious. And oh, by the way, if you go out there to work today and get injured, we're only going to offer a contract that is half the money for half the length of the contract you are currently negotiating.

All this BS from everyone here that he should be happy to get what he is getting is just ridiculous. Go ahead. Deny it. Tell us how you would gladly take one for the team and sign for the same money as others that are clearly inferior to you at what you do for a living and smile about it. Let's see how many people buy that argument.

No I agree my comments about him wanting to be paid number 1 corner money are from reports not JPJ himself. I am just saying they should be able to come to a fair agreement one in which he’s not paid 1 corner money because he is simply not close to the 1 corner.

Still a big believer that this will happen very close to the last minute.

Nice to see positive comments from the agent.

I think this is how it goes down: Once they figure out the deal, Porter will come back to practice. Then the Steelers will say "he came back to practice, so now we'll sign him". Just like Hines.

You don't traded away young talented players in the hope(key word) that you can draft young talented players.

If Porter is worth the $33m, then I would argue he's worth at least close to the Sauce Gardner package. Porter is a bit older than Sauce (not much), but the level of play is roughly similar. Gardner was a 2x AP when traded for, so I doubt we'd get that. We'd be hoping for a 1st plus more in a deal, but I doubt we'd get multiple firsts.

I still hope we pay him rather than deal him. The only way I am okay with trading him is if we end up getting the capital (1st and more) to move up in the draft for a QB. If its anything less than capital acquired to trade up for a stud QB, then its not worth it. Better to just keep the high end CB and build around the QB's we have.

I agree with every word of this. It's like spending a million bucks on lottery tickets hoping you win a million bucks.

I wouldn't be furious if I was at the top of my game. I would go elsewhere. Porter is under contract so he can't walk. Asking a player to play under his current contract apparently is viewed negatively by some people.

The Steelers should have cap room system sign him. I don't think Heyward is playing past this year. There are a number of other question.

Porter is a household name. We all saw Jr. Being held by his dad. He's played well. Good guy. Just sign him.

If the Steelers don't activate JPJ off the PUP list by Sunday, he will have to miss the first four games.

Will he be counted against the 53-man roster if still on the PUP list?

    You would be fuming.

Do you know for a fact he isn't going to play football this year? Maybe you could enlighten us with this information that the rest of us haven't heard?

I hope and pray JPJ and his advisors/agent are not too stubborn, remember the Steelers have let many players
walk. Franco, Harrison, Faneca, JPJ dad, Woodson. Think real hard JPJ.

If Porter signs a new extension he basically plays on his rookie contract this year

If he does not sign an extension he plays on his rookie contract this year and if he plays well he can go to auction as a FA to the highest bidder and this may be a good option

If he sits out games this year his value drops that would be a bad option

I'm fairly certain that every single Steelers fan wants to see Porter resigned. That's blatantly obvious. The issue is, should it be at any cost? If he truly wants #1 money, should they take the hit and pay him top 1 or 2 money whether he deserves it or not just so they don't lose him? Doesn't seem like a smart team decision to do that in my opinion.

At the high dollar positions (offensive tackle, pass rusher, QB, WR, CB) the eye-popping contracts are a bargain the minute after they are signed. Steelers would be wise to sign Porter before the next round of CBs in his cohort ink deals. The price is only going to go up, not down.

Almost Nobody plays on their current contract all the way through, almost nobody. Let's not act like they do. So why all of a sudden is it different for JPJ??

This Team has not been great at getting DB'S lately ..IMO the NFL has changed a lot the past few years ..I value DB'S over DL and LB'S , I know the old what comes first , but pass rushers cant get home if DB'S cant stop the quick passing game..

I say pay the man..IMO we need to start moving our money towards the DB'S instead of LB'S...
