As I have said, dont think there is any chance Howard is getting cut. McCarthy was brought here primarily to develop our next franchise QB so you arent going to get rid of one of the guys they are trying to find out about.

The prospects of this team winning a SB this year is almost zilch so holding onto Rudolph to weather any games Rodgers misses is misguided at best. In fact and this is just my opinion, the only shot at a SB this year would be a late season injury to Rodgers and Allar comes in and lights the world on fire. a 43 year old Rodgers I dont believe is capable of leading this team past the top guns in the AFC and all the way to a SB win.

Well let's look at what McCarthy has done when his last Qb got hurt. Last time Rodgers got hurt he went 7-9
Then in Dallas when Dak Prescott got hurt he went 6-10.
Its not as easy as Tomlin showed to still win when your Qb isn't playing

Yes we as fans want that but big picture in the nfl points to mason giving us a better shot for a game or two. It usually comes down to one game to get in the playoffs so we don't have much leway. Once the games begin, things defenses will do will get more complex.

Did you see Allar play vs the Jets?

Multiple accounts noted the receivers (mostly depth/roster-bubble guys) had a rough night with drops: One detailed rewatch counted six drops on catchable balls (7, 15, 8, 6, 17, and 17 yards downfield). Catching those would have made Allar roughly 17-of-23 for 180 yards. Now he is a work in progress. But he also has good deep passing ability.

None of our 3 backups give us a chance right now if Rodgers gets injured.

I dont think Howard is a back up QB. That's why I think they have 4 on the roster. Its not the end of the world, you can be creative and make it work. The keep a depth player who can also play special teams argument is so overrated

It's not fair to Howard, but it goes with the territory.

You have to have thick skin if you're going to play the quarterback position.

People seem to forget that it's not just young quarterbacks that don't play well when the offensive line is playing poorly. Every quarterback will struggle in that situation.

I hate that it has to be explained to people, but that is the reality of football.

Does anybody remember how bad Mahomes looked in the Super Bowl when his OL couldn't block anybody? When the Giants' pass rush was banging Tom Brady in the Super Bowl? The bottom line in this: If the offensive line plays badly, it almost ensures that the quarterback will play badly or at the very least be limited in what they can do or be ineffective.

    In summary..

You have to be able to look downfield instead of looking at a 300 LB man that spends most of his time in the gym running full speed at you with intention to cause harm lol

Guess I'm a loner thinking it was a good thing for Howard and Allar to play behind a shaky OL. Both need to develop their processing and mechanics when under pressure and this was an ideal test.
    • Did their mechanics hold up or did they revert to old habits?
    • Was their decision-making sound or did they miss obvious opportunities?
    • How was their pocket movement to avoid pressure?
    • Did they go through progressions or panic on first reads?
The coaches need to understand how much of camp translated to game settings,.... i.e, where they are on the learning curve. Think of this as establishing a floor for the QBs.

I would have liked to bring up the Mahomes case in that Super Bowl personally. However, I myself have played that proverbial tune enough that I would hope that people could understand. That was a major error on my part. Why?!

Hope must be paired with clarity. As it stood then and even now, clarity for some people isn't well defined as the term should be.

    Agree with Batch.

IMO if they like him they wont risk losing him on the PS.
