Throwing over the middle of the field

    Not just the middle of the field, we actually used slants again. I don't remember seeing many of those for a few seasons.

    Arthur Smith didn't call enough of this type of plays.

    The X Coach stated he did not like throwing in the middle ..The new Coach has stated you better be able to run a slant route..By attacking that middle it forces Defenses to help in that area and creates space for the outside the numbers routes..It also opens up running lanes inside and out forcing LB'S and Safeties to be responsible for coverage over that same middle...

    We had a saying every time we put a game plan together..How do we make them Defend every blade of grass , as such each week the first set of plays we put in had options to attack the entire field ..

    So you're saying Tomlin did not like attacking every blade of grass:smiley1:

    I like what I have seen with McCarthy, the new OC and the young QB's.

    The weak armed QB's ( Pickett ) do not like throwing over the middle mid range or deep.
