Can't believe I/we (except for Forgotten Won) missed including perhaps the greatest faux war movie ever - Dr. Strangelove! Slim Pickens deserved an Oscar for the final scene alone.

I generally don't like war movies all that much, but "Apocalypse Now" and "The Blue Max" are 2 of my favorite movies.

 

I watched Patton again last weekend.
I'd like to add "The Sand Pebbles" to my list! "Lie stee stah wow...."

Not so much a great movie but a lot if historical insight into the planning

Hacksaw Ridge is good because it’s based on fact for a real hero

yeah it was a great cast. Dont know why this movie doesnt get more credit. Maybe because it shows the russians had to fight the nazis too?

 

For the same reason people have reactions to Peter Jackson's 3 hobbit movies. Forcing an unwritten love triangle into the story in order to appeal to a broader demographic. They could have made it a good film just showing the duel between the two snipers and left the love triangle out especially since Zaitsev looked more like Uncle Fester than Jude Law.

 

still plenty of action. Definitely, You have to take it as a given that a love story has to be written into any story to make it more appealing to a “wider audience”. I dont think it took away from the movie much at all though.

On the other hand, what peter jackson did to the hobbit story was ridiculous. That was really a case of forcing the issue.
