What do you consider to be the weak link on the 2026 Steelers?

I see up-side and reason to be positive at nearly every position but QB, and we can't be any worse in the coaching department. There are so many possible breakout players we should see a few of them step up.

Being the savvy veteran that Rogers is, he will be smart and provide chances to win, although I wish they would have moved on from him so we could find out what we have in Howard and Allar.

O-line is up in the air but with decent coaching it should be better.

I think Danny will be missed on special teams but we have a lot of ST talent.

 

On D: Probably ILB. I'll also feel better about the CBs when I see the vet addition play well...been burned on this front too many times. Hearing Samuel is looking pretty good in camp too, but it's still early and probably mostly meaningless.

On O: QB is still the most important question mark. How does AR look one year older. We should have our strongest WR2 in a long time, but again it's kind of an I'll believe it when I see it thing for me. What's going to happen on the right side of the OL? How do they all gel with only 1 guy in the same spot from last season?

 

Overall?! Cohesion of the entire team. New philosophy, new play book and new personnel. A lot of moving parts as it stands. Time isn't really on Pittsburghs side either with these aging vets. The team has to start as fast as possible for the second half of the season is brutal.


Offense?! Comes down to the Offensive Line.... again. It has been said one times too many but does bear repeating; how quickly will this new unit gel and stabilize?! This isn't accounting for the positional switches of Troy Fautanu and Mason McCormick though there isn't too much concern there thus far.


Defense?! Easily ILB. There is no clear cut answer as it stands. Have to find out what you have I Payton Wilson.

 

On offense, having a soon to be 43 yr old qb will always bring up questions.....
The only other potential weakness offensively would revolve around the moving parts on the o-line and how quickly they come together as a unit



Defensively, the talk at ilb is gonna end up being a broken record, until proven otherwise....
I'm holding my breath at the safety position..
Brisker, Elliott and Savage are an incredible top 3 if they stay healthy, which is something they all have issues with

Biggest weakness on defense is horrible NT and Inside Lb play. They cannot stop the run on a consistent basis. Another one was consistently giving up third and long. I think that was coaching. We shall see.

 

I think our DC and HC were an absolute disaster on defense. I can't see it being worse coaching, and we have better talent.

 

IDL and ILB.We need much better play from these positions.

 

I could be 100% wrong, but I believe it's possible our ILBs will surprise us in a new scheme and no longer be a weakness during the season.

Regarding the question, it's about Rodgers and the safety position... Rodgers needs to be much better against tough defenses. He'll be okay against average defenses, but if he's not better against good defenses, the results will be the same.

It’s likely short-to-medium distance coverage over the middle by our linebackers.

We just can’t cover for $#^t in that area. This has been a Steelers weakness for years. We no longer have Tomlin and his dolt at DC to compound the problem. Hopefully the new coaches especially Graham can find a way to mask this long-standing Steelers weakness.

Early in camp he has played Holcomb in coverge and in my opninon he is better the Queen is coverage.

 

Yes, but it appears that may of our DBs are made of glass.

Though he’s fighting for a special-teams and backup safety spot, one player I really want to see is Spears. I think he’ll be a good special-teams player with the upside of his size and elite speed to mold. I have suggested that he plays in the dime as the coverage linebacker before. Now is the time to experiment with that idea. He has the tools. See his measurements below.

i think this team has made the right moves and added the right players to help the old QB. depth is good at most positions now. coaching should be much better. i think this team can hang with anybody on our schedule this year.

 

I actually think WR is going to be pretty good. Metcalf and Pittman will be tough to cover and if Bernard and/or Wilson step up it could be real good.

 

Spears is struggling in camp he will be lucky to make the 53.

 

also two good RB's that can run, catch and block, plus 3 good TE's. that is more weapons than most teams have.

 

Granted, all new coaches can take time to gel but anything is better than the incompetent staff we have seen for too long.

 

Do you have a link that says that? Are you at Camp? Or are you just saying this because you think so?

 

I think offensively just having another year with the line, and adding another 2 WRs, and Im counting our rookie in that, will make the offense better. Im really worried about the D. Many people say we didn't do different stuff from year to year on the D, and Im telling people they are wrong. Example: Last year they changed what they were doing many times until they could find what was working, because if people paid attention , what they started with wasn't working, and it was changed multiple times, not only schemes, but player position.

I was listening to camp coverage from SNR.

 

That's the crazy thing is I've been listening to camp coverage by a few different places, and they are all seeing it all different . They all have different agendas, and I can't wait to see some stuff with my own eyes, and not just the clips they want to push

 

I think it's true that people come in with their own preconceived notions.

But it also sounds to me like MM is doing a lot of things in parallel on different fields, which people seem to be saying happened less in previous camps.

So it could also be that it's harder for guys reporting on stuff to see "everything".

If this is that case, I like this addition to camp. And the cameras all over the place.

The CBA really limits how long they are allowed to practice with coaches there. This seems like a good way to make the most of what they can do.

 

I didn't see it that way he's a rookie and he will have up and down days.
