I see where Josh Harrison is rejoining the Bucs on August 7 so he can officially retire as a Pirate. That's super for him and the Bucs. He was so fun to watch on the base paths. Talk about a magic man. Sort of a Hines Ward type but in baseball. He and Freddie Sanchez 2 of my favorite Bucs in this millennium.

Baseball Gods seem to dislike the Pirates. This is a organization that needs all the help it can get. Lose Cruz, Lose Konnor, and hope Valdez is minor stuff. Bullpen still a problem even if we had these guys but I'd say we have 5-6 more wins with them playing.

Living where I live I'm enjoying this stat but know to keep my mouth shut for now.

Philadelphia Phillies 2026 Payroll: 282,000,000. Phillies 57 wins

Pittsburgh Pirates 2026 Payroll: 102,000,000. Pirates 55 wins

I see Valdez in line-up for tonight.

Did you see the video I posted?
Kind of spot on about BP
    21-0 lead blown
    Lol
I agree wholeheartedly about missing key players but somehow we are still generating enough lumber
Deadline approaching quickly, I keep checking to see if we made a move yet
    No such luck
Hopefully we can get 2 for the BP
The Pittsburgh Pirates are targeting buyers ahead of the deadline, focusing on bullpen arms and offensive upgrades like Isaac Paredes or Luke Weaver, while using minor-league assets as potential trade chips.
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t we try to get Paredes during the offseason?

Yes, the Pittsburgh Pirates pursued Houston Astros third baseman [Isaac Paredes](https://www.mlb.com/news/isaac-paredes-addresses-offseason-trade- rumors) during the offseason, engaging in active trade discussions that involved catcher Joey Bart. However, those talks ultimately went quiet and stalled out as the Pirates reached their spending limits and shifted focus by signing Marcell Ozuna. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

    Offseason Pursuit Details
    • Target: Infield upgrade for a right-handed power bat at third base.
    • Trade Talks: Discussed a potential package with Houston involving catcher Joey Bart.
    • Resolution: Talks fizzled out, leading Pittsburgh to pivot toward other roster additions like Marcell Ozuna. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

If you'd like, we can look into:
    • How Isaac Paredes has performed so far this season
    • Whether the Pirates are still linked to him ahead of the trade deadline

    I have said this once
I have said this a million times
Pirates SP are doomed unless they pitch a complete game
    Really feel for them
    Once Soto comes in
    Turn the lights out
    The party is over

Bubba's struggling a bit - 2 zip in 2nd. Needs to keep score low, D Back pitcher has been stingy recently and Bucs O is slowing down past few games.

Another one bites the dust. D-backs just showed the Bucs what pitching is all about - starter and shut down reliever. Should have at least won the series. Now watch the dismal Red Legs wake up and scorch the Bucs in the next 4 games. Sad when all the bats go to sleep at the same time. At least Ozuna and Davis are consistently horrible at the plate.

Funny, The past few years I'm always saying if we could just be .500. Alas it sucks even worse then being 10-15 under at this point. Way more heartbreaking. Usually it is on to the Steelers at this point only checking Pirates once in awhile.

OK, I've said it before during this season and the kids proved me wrong, but this time it is going to be right. Bucs are going to drop below .500 within a week and stay there for reminder of season. Nasty road trip coming up.

At least we get 4 against our b- itches (5-1) this year so far, the Brewers. :lolol:

"Pittsburgh is coming off a dismal 3-0 setback Wednesday against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks and left-handed starter Eduardo Rodriguez. A first-time All-Star this season, Rodriguez threw eight innings, yielding five hits and one walk with two strikeouts to lower his ERA to 2.48. The loss meant the Pirates have dropped five straight to left-handed starters to fall to 9-23 against southpaws this season."

This is one more troubling tidbit, especially with Cruz out of the lineup who seemed to have figured out LH pitchers this year. The whole team needs to consult his off season hitting advisor.

Skenes, 80 pitches to get through 3 innings with 5 hits, 4 walks, 3 runs and 5 Ks. 3-3 tie in 4th. Bucs better score 16 tonight.

7-7 late innings on the road. 90% chance of a loss.
