Well sort of. I'm sure all the locals know about this but I was blown away (no pun intended) reading about the Parkway East (I-376) Commercial St Bridge replacement project. Of course many Steeler fans travel this highway to attend games at Acrisure. ;) I'm a Civil Engineer (semi-retired) and have never heard of the approach PennDot took to replace this bridge section. They first built the new bridge adjacent to the old one. Not unusual at all where the termini approaches are reconfigured to line up with the still in-place outer highway sections. But in this case they blew up the old section, cleared the rubble and then mechanically slid the new 11,000 ton section back over where the demolished section had been at the rate of 3 ft per day.. What an engineering feat and an amazing result. There's lots of time-lapsed drone videos showing the whole process - here's a version:

At 3 ft/1 yd a day, about equivalent to other teams trying to move against the Steel Curtain! :drinks:
I wonder if Josh Dobbs had any part in this?

UPDATE: They moved it much faster than originally planned/thought. They slid it 96 ft of the needed 102 ft in about 7 hrs vs the projected 25-30 hrs. Maybe it wasn't level and it was sliding downhill on its own? Different brand of Vaseline? Slicker than deer guts on a pump handle? Whole thing should finish next week they say. Amazing. Guess it really was a "shovel ready" project. ;)

They estimate 125 k cars use this bridge daily so you can imagine the pressure
On this operation to get road up and running.

That's about 10 minutes worth on a typical LA freeway, except they're all sitting still hours on end where you can count the wads of gum on the pavement. :lolol:

Very true, I lived in Houston Texas in early 80's they
also had massive numbers of cars on the Freeways. I was just
putting it out there so people could see how important this roadway is in PGH locally.

Taco Bell introduced me to some corn I ate back in the '70s. I ask you is that a bad thing.

When swimming in a river or lake, beware of those finless, toothless, corn eyed brown carp.

In a scene right out of "Kingpin" today, I walked into the men's room at a Cracker Barrel and an elderly man was sitting in a urinal taking a dump. This was in Michigan so maybe that's how they roll up here.

I looked backed as I was leaving and he had a confused look on his face as he was trying to flush it down.
