What type of philosophy does McCarty have for the Offensive line?

Campen was one of the strongest additions of this past offseason. His history with Green Bay included a ton of zone, but to a great extent a lot of these OL coaches fall into whatever is in vogue in the NFL at the time. You want to be on the front edge of the trend, because that trend is usually effective and working against the old strategies.

The trend right now is the best OL mix it up, with zone and power approaches. In fact I am of the mind that power is on the rise, though it's not like I watch every game so that's just the feel I get.

Either way what matters is Campen is obviously a great teacher of the OL. He's underrated I think. And the upgrade in scheme, the upgrade in weapons, and then good teaching to go with it all I think points to a good destination for Pittsburgh. This is one of the reasons I am rather high about their chances this season. I expect a strong playoff run.

I also thought power was on the rise, but the closer I look the more I think its just whatever they can get the line to run the most efficiently with what they have. I've seen a few teams start the year one way, and by the middle of the year they have gone another because it wasn't working

In recent seasons... the OL starts out OK, but then after Thanksgiving starts to go south... especially run blocking. Hope Steelers can break the trend this year. It's been a while since we've had an OL clicking on all cylinders in the months of December and January.

    YEP when it's needed most
don't like seeing failure on a 3rd and half of yard and then 4th and 1 loss of downs
    UGH
