I think there's a lot of fans out there who don't fully understand how bad Pittsburgh has had it at wideout. Bernard might not fully be felt in this offense his rookie season, but given what we're used to the addition of an intelligent, smooth, and dependable weapon in the pass game is going to be a revelation. He is going to work the hell out of the middle of the field.

I figure early on defensive focus will be on Pittman because he's the most established weapon in that room. But as the season goes on stopping Bernard will be the gameplan vs this pass game. My biggest question with this group is how Metcalf is going to handle being the third weapon, it's going to be a test of his maturity level.

Metcalf will be very happy having someone take the coverage off of him

One of the reasons Seattle moved on from him was his temper tantrums when he thought he was open but didn't get the ball. Last season he didn't have to deal with that element like he's going to need to deal with it this season. But either way I hope you're right. I'm just a bit leery of the dude so we'll see how it plays out.

Hope MM doesn't put up with buffoonery from players.

MM handled Pickens well. Tomlin did not. He also failed to handle Bell or Brown effectively. There’s just something about Tomlin’s approach that seems to feed diva behavior. To me, diva players are all about padding their stats and chasing contracts that put themselves far above the team. They thrive in well-designed offensive systems, not ones run by head coaches who can barely spell “scheme” and who hire coordinators grade C.

The best way to handle a diva when he acts out is to bench him late in games when you’re up or down by two scores. At the end of the day, they care most about their stats Tell him this before hand, not in-front of the team or in public. It’ll be interesting to see if MM handles DK Metcalf any better than Tomlin handled his divas. I predict he will.

He is already better than all the players not named Pittman, Metcalf.
