I said in the past that yards was important but never said that points don't matter

I think it's a little early to make a claim like that. There are so many guys changing position and some new faces that will be depth or young starters that I just don't think you can say that about this offensive line until we see what they do on the field. I think they will get better as the year goes on if they stay healthy and adjust to the position changes and the new offense.

Haven’t read the thread but for me the Steelers roster is as good as any in the division, but until they have a QB they are not on the upswing.

Put Burrow or Lamar on that roster and they’re an instant contender imo. They are probably a little short of elite skill talent on offence. They have ‘good’ players like Metcalf, Pittman and Warren but nobody you have to really gameplan for.

If you look at the usual contenders in any given year, their schemes (typically WCO) are cutting edge on offense and do a great job of getting the most from their big boys up front. I think the top example would be the Rams there, who I mention because they also have Dotson. I never think "wow look at that OL" when I watch their playoff matchups. It's usually wondering how in the hell they prove to be so potent in the playoffs with a unit that always looks a bit cobbled together. They even threw their QB on the recycle pile (Goff) when they moved him to Detroit as an afterthought in that trade, and he has shown since that with a proper OL in front of him that he is much more consistent and capable. Not great, but the OL matters.

The contender who usually fields what I would consider a top OL are the Eagles. They're big, they're physical, and that stuff always plays well in the playoffs. But anyway I think McCarthy is on that cutting edge schematically speaking. So my expectation is the OL is going to benefit from the misdirection and overall problems his offense is going to create for opposing defenses. I don't think the coach solves everything but this unit is going to benefit from scheme and also the addition of Campen, who is one of the more underrated yet excellent OL coaches in this league. I expect we are going to see a jump in efficiency by this unit.

Well since I'm well on my way to what will probably be overly-positive posts about this OL I might as well double down. :lolol:

So I'll just say that the OL vs pass game weapons is similar to the pass rush vs coverage options on the other side of the ball. Where the two are directly related and benefit one another as you build the quality in those different areas. Look at the weapons Rodgers had last season. I just don't think he was set up for success and I hate to talk the guy up because I realize he's an injury away from retirement and a year out from retirement at the very least. He's old and fragile and all that. But one thing he's got this season is a significant influx of pass game weapons, and he is definitely good enough to take advantage.

We just need to kill a chicken or something to ensure he survives the season. But I think the scheme is going to help there as well.

we may have the best OL group in the division, like others have said have to put the pieces in the right spots and make it work and see what happens.

i do believe we have the best tight end group in the division, and best kicker

Really difficult to predict where the 2026 Steelers will fall, i think this is the most difficult season for predictions in a very long time.

Is that ranking by a Steelers insider? PIT will have 4 out of 5 starting new positions and are ranked 3rd?!
