I believe there is an earlier thread of this here,
Many variables of contractual varieties discussed

Porter is definitely not worth $30 million yet. There are only 3 CBs in the league making over $25 million and I don't consider Porter to be in their class yet.
Franchise Tag for a CB in 2026 was $21.1 million Do they wait and Tag him in 2027?

Now, if Porter doesn't want a ton of guaranteed money then you could offer 5 years for $150 million. A contract the Steelers could walk away from in a couple of years if they wanted to. And, in 5 years Porter's $30 million per season will sound like a bargain compared the rest of the league in 2030+.

I have no problems going 5 years with Porter. Last year Porter was a class act when they brought in both Darius Slay and Jalen Ramsey to replace him on the opposing teams #1 WR.

Not picking on you but does “pay the man” actually mean anything

    Pay him a fair salary

    Over pay him

Pay him what ever ridiculous amount his agent starts with

It was in jest, but I think Porter deserves a fair salary. I think that fair salary is somewhere close to $30 million per. I hope they can sign him for $27-28 ish million.

The wait and tag is a very real hole card for the Steelers in these negotiations

It’s not a hardball card they want to use but if the agent tries playing hardball he will lose

30 mil a year and give back a mil for every PI. we won't have cap issues at that point. :smiley1::cool:

Yup. Looks like there was a server issue.

Pay the man enough to keep him. The guy has grown into an elite corner, something they haven't had in quite a while. I would hate to see them fail to lock him up after overpaying Watt last year and Herbig this offseason.

“Yet “is the keyword. Do you wait until he gets there which could very well be this season and then have to pay even more or get him locked in now for a little above value.

I would lock him up now. He showed significant growth from year 1 to year 2.

I see the redundant whining about the Watt contract found its way here

Next this will be turned into a post about a cancerous WR we shed

LOL... You are always 100% Old School. Man signs a contract let him finish his contract and then we will talk about a new contract.

Then we tag him and again talk about a new contract that’s not old school tag is not old

It’s up to him and his agent

Steelers have proven to be fair year in and year out but they don’t give in to foolishness

Wait that is old school
