You are leaving out Stafford, he can evade no better than Rodgers does now, but He isn't afraid of sitting there, and taking the hit, unlike Rodgers now.

Optimism is cool. I’ve got no problem with optimism. It’s the refusal to recognize that it is optimism.

When the optimistic projection becomes the assumed reality. That’s when every time I go looking for Steelers news I have to wade through 100’s of stories whining about how the team isn’t meeting an overly optimistic projection like it was a foregone conclusion.

I can already see many fans treating the outer edges of the curve as the expected median outcome. Don’t do that. It’s how you find yourself posting everyone needs to get fired and I’m too embarrassed to go to work on Monday rants at zero dark thirty after a Week 4 loss.

I can be optimistic, and if we lose not whine, and cry about it.

It’s opinions versus facts kind of thing.

we can have an opinion that the 2026 Steelers should win a ton of games and vie for the SB. BUT if that doesn’t happen it doesn’t mean something went wrong. It just means my opinion was off target.

there are consequences for doing that as well. Darnold didn't have success like he had last year with his other teams. He also threw a lot of picks and so did many of those other elites. They also had more sacks. You better have the defense to compensate playing that way. Taking care of the ball is effective as well.

The seahawks were 3rd in PPG and 8th in yards.I take that offense(even if they were 31st in turnovers)over the boring steelers offense in the last 5 years when they were in the top 5 almost every year in fewer turnovers but bottom 5-10 in production

I would tell Joe the Steelers are the most improved depth chart in this division. On paper. And then I'd tell him to stop dressing like the kid in home alone when he travels to the stadium on gameday.

If you score enough points. The 2025 Steelers did not.

Old QBs don't hold the ball. No QB wants to get pancaked by a 300 lb lineman. Old QBs, even less so.

2020 - Roethlisberger - fastest time to throw in the NFL
2021 - Roethlisberger - fastest time to throw in the NFL
2022 - Brady - fastest time to throw in the NFL
2024 - Rodgers - sixth fastest time to throw in the NFL
2025 - Rodgers - third fastest time to throw in the NFL

Weird fact; both Baltimore and Cincinnati scored more points per game than the Steelers last year, and neither made the post season. Does this mean defenses still win games?

Need both. The ravens and bengals defense were very poor for much of the year.Same for the Cowboys in the NFC.The bengals offense were also awful with Browning as QB

    Agreed ,but ....
Have You ever noticed the guys that always say we suck, and usually pick us to do bad are the 1st to b!+ch , and complain??? Small Example look at the picks the last two years, and then the people who made them, and now think of the ones who b!+ch, and complain the most about everything, and You will see a pretty close link to most of them.
As a true optimistic person when we don't achieve what I optimistically thought, I think.......................................Next time.

I like the Steelers roster, barring injuries I think we will be very competitive.
We need everybody to buy in and play with passion.

OL and middle of the D are still big question marks. Same as it ever was. Steelers have used 3 out of 4 first round picks on OT in the past 4 seasons... with average results at best. Hope Iheanachor turns out better than Jones and Fautanu. Not getting my hopes up. The OL hasn't been good since Pouncey, DeCastro and Villanueva either retired or moved on.

I will say the Steelers probably have much less pressure on them this season than the other AFCN teams (not named the Browns). Speculation last season was that Taylor could be in trouble until Burrow got injured and wrecked the season. Ravens are the annual favorite. Their roster is arguably the best in the AFCN but the epic late game fails last year have soured some people on their future. And spying their message boards they are very much unsure about whether the coaching changes will actually get them over the hump. I would say the floor of the AFCN teams excluding the Browns are pretty much even but the ceilings look very different.
