What type of philosophy does McCarty have for the Offensive line?

What’s McCarthy’s philosophy on the offensive line?

I see McCarthy as a zone guy at heart. But he’s not married to it. He’s shown comfort mixing in man/gap/power elementswhen the personnel fits. Overall, he’s flexible and player-development focused rather than a rigid scheme ideologue.

That said, I still prefer having at least one true power/man-scheme guy on the OL — someone who can root out DTs, create movement at the point of attack, and open real holes in the ground game.

Some quiet but exciting news. The Steelers just added two coaches to the offensive line staff under Mike McCarthy this year.

I personally prefer to have a multi layered Offensive Blocking Scheme that can keep the opponents guessing. That said, it requires special types of Lineman Overall; doubly so in Center and both Tackles. Centers have to be athletic enough in space and OTs have to have more than enough displacement ability.

The Steelers OL had the fewest penalties last season with 13, I guess Pat Meyer didn't totally suck .

    You are correct

He got young guys ready to play before they should have been ready

Pat Meyer did an excellent job

But the team still improved with the new hiring

    OL will be OK

many fans wanted new draft picks on the o-line and said they would be OK with growing pains until they had growing pains and then the coach sucked. funny how that works.

this line will become really good i do believe. campen and evans are still in the figuring stage of who does best where and they seem adaptable to different fronts they may face. not just we do what we do. nice to see.

i read an article about them moving mccormick and fautanu. it said it was important to keep guys together that had been playing together, just on a different side. that's exactly what i said all along. even cook and anderson have some time together but now on a different side. dunker and iheanachor can also build on a side they are more comfortable with together. it doesn't mean that down the road they can't move around but this year it makes sense until they learn the pro game from where they are more comfortable. smart coaching.

i see inside zone, outside zone, man all being installed but not over complicated.

Meyers was a good OL coach, players developed under him, but let's hope our new OL coach is even better.

"Very smart players. That's a very smart offensive line," McCarthy said. "I'm extremely impressed with that group. I think that group's going to be top notch for a long time once they get the connection and they all come into their own."

I cut and pasted this into one of Joel’s posts to save him from starting a new one.

You said an I quote you.

You have a habit of calling people liars the moment you're backed into a corner. That's a weird way to deflect.

Who is the other person you are calling a lowlife?

We all make typos when responding and spellcheck is not always your friend

But I can’t imagine making a new (redundant unnecessary) post and not making sure it was clear and accurate

And worse yet not editing it to correct mistakes

Kids nowadays have no work ethic
