I recall them being competitive games under Cowher, but maybe my memory fails me.

I only recall being humiliated under Tomlin, but that might be recency bias and knowing we have been a playoff laughingstock for 8+ years now.

I DO recall, however, us losing AFC CG a couple of times under Cowher when we were favored and the scent of Marty Schottenheimer wafted through the message boards. It's not all rainbows and unicorns from Cowher days. Not at all. That said, I don't recall ever thinking, before a playoff game, that we have NO CHANCE to win, as I have with the past 5+ playoff games. Even the Cleveland game, which I never thought would be a blowout, even with us handicapped with Mike Tomlin, I didn't think we'd win that game.

The biggest difference was, the Steelers would destroy teams occasionally under Cowher, even in the playoffs.

Hope you are wrong, but time will tell.

I get why they went McCarthy, but like many of you, was hoping we'd uncover the youthful, diamond-in-the-rough head coach. I wanted a HC that would press for blowout wins and would press for the offense to score early and often and TD's over FG's.

No he didn’t, he confirmed it. As did Ike Taylor and Vince Williams.

Why do you have such a bug up your ass about this anyway, he wasnt pointing fingers or assigning blame for things not going well. There was no reason for him to lie about it.

If there was a coach out there like that then Gooddell would squash their dreams unless it was for a specific team or two.

Moats said Tomlin would make like 5 calls a game he didn't totally take over the play calling like Butler said, stop being so gullible .

Only two more months of this repetition and we can start counting who gets more snaps Allar or Howard

That’s going to be a fun adventure. Camp Howard Vs Camp Allar. Funny thing is one of them will probably be pushed to the practice squad cause a WR ran the wrong route.

He takes everything regarding Tomlin personal. In no way does that make Tomlin look bad and the defense was good so whats the problem? Hes not the first HC to take over play calling but for some reason Steelersrule6 takes it as an attack on Tomlin and Butler must be lying. And Ike is lying and Vince Williams is lying. Nobody saying this stuff is talking about making 5 calls a game, thats not worth mentioning, anyone with a functioning should understand that.

And @steelersrule6@steelersrule6 finds always a way to blame Roethlisberger like for the 2018 collapse because of his interception in Denver when the loss against the Chargers and the Raiders after that was just a brutal coaching job by Tomlin for different reasons

Here I am wrapping up my Top Five Positional Rankings for the 2027 NFL Draft. :lolol: Thought that the OTs would be the easiest but this upcoming class is proving to be quite the challenge. The other positions are set for the time being though.

This coming from a guy who tried to make excuses for Cowher losing two AFCCG to the Patriots on spygate, giving up two special teams TDs you can't blame on spy gate . Do you even understand football that Ben interception was their last play on offense, the Chargers were 12-4 in 2018 and better than the Steelers .

Serious question not being a smart ass

When you do this now and look at it say the day before the draft how much does it change

It seems in a year a lot can change with college kids

    But it’s still enjoyable

What about the raiders(4-12) game when Tomlin let Roethlisberger on the bench despite he was ready to return for most of the second half.....Against the chargers, the steelers had the lead 23-7 at one point but the sorry defense could not stop the chargers in the second half. When a linebaker is against their best wide receiver in the most important play of the game and this is so obvious before the snap, this is bad coaching

The 2001 patriots beat the greatest show on turf in the super bowl after that, this is not as if it was against a team who was 8-8 with Tim Tebow as QB

They said something about it took a long time for Ben to get an Xray at that stadium, there is no guarantee rushing Ben back into the game they win Dobbs sucks though. Save your excuses the Steelers were favorites at home in 2001 in a poorly coached game .

Cowher was outcoached by Belichick because of the spyagte. He was not alone for the next several years

Ben was 25-29 for 282 yards and 2 TD against the raiders....he was fine but not the sorry defense who gave up 2 go ahead TD in the final 5 minutes

I already posted that giving up two special teams TDs you can't blame it on spygate in 2001, there's a reason why no rookie starting QB has made the Super Bowl just like in 2004.

If the QB throws an interception on the last offensive play of the game with a chance to win or tie, he deserves blame for the loss see Russell Wilson against the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Why do you think the QB is the only player on the team that gets a win/loss record .

Head coach have also a win-loss record as stats.....For the interception of Russell Wilson in the super bowl, the seahawks coaching staff have had way more heat on this play and it was not even close

The difference is the QB is on the one on the field . Like Charlie Batch said he always puts more blame on the players because they're the ones on the field.

Each situation is different.....I mean for the seahawks situation,to call a pass in this situation was just awful.Yes Wilson deserve a bit more heat for that, since very few had blamed him for that but at the same time,it was a horrible decision to call a pass in this situation

But for the interception of Ben in 2018 in Denver, even after this loss, the steelers were still 7-3-1 and they were in a good position to not only to have a playoffs spot and also having maybe a first round bye but they had a choke for the age in the next 2 games vs Chargers and raiders, who had nothing to do with Ben

Can you point on the doll to where Tomlin and Ben hurt you?
