This is the big concern which has been expressed here on the board as well.

It’s not his arm, he can still throw the heck out of the football. It’s making sure he has time to throw because hes not going to create on his own anymore.

Let's put it this way; if I'm a DC I am blitzing AR at least half the time. At some point you hit home, but at the least he is dumping the ball within 5 yards of the LOS. The only advantage AR can give you is changing plays based on looks.

What was his numbers against the blitz last year?

I don't think blitzing Rodgers is a good strategy since his release time is under 2.50 seconds almost every time, pressure or not

My point is keeping the throws within 5 yards of the line is advantage defense unless the offense has YAC creators. Maybe this is true this year.

Rodgers will eat a defense alive if they do that. And all it will take is the defense getting burned once before they dial it back.

Just put pressure on him without blitzing which teams were able to do last year. Hopefully the line is up to the challenge this season.

Just a comparison. Do you want to be like Brady???

Aaron Rodgers recorded an average time to throw of roughly 2.56 seconds during the 2025 NFL season. This ultra-quick release ranked as the fastest among all qualified starting quarterbacks in the league, helping him limit hits and post his lowest sack totals in years.

Tom Brady's average release time during his NFL career was incredibly fast, typically clocking in between 2.35 and 2.50 seconds from the snap. In certain highly efficient games, such as his 2022 playoff run, he recorded an astonishingly quick release time of just 2.17 seconds.

I think it will be even worse this season since he has announced that he is retiring after the season. If anyone gets with arm length of him he is going to throw the ball in the dirt. Rodgers doesn't want to enter his retirement years crippled up.

Without looking it up, I’d say the big difference is Adot. Most of the Steelers pass plays are around the LOS. Dollars to donuts, Brady was deeper than that.

The line will be crucial to any success the team has. Hoping for good line play and Rodgers being back in a familiar system equates to good things.

He still has the arm, they just need to make him feel comfortable back there.

I'll plop this here as evidence. It's a bit of any eyechart but it shows exactly what we all witnessed. Left side of chart is QB data for <2.5 sec pocket time, right side is +2.5 sec pocket time.

Note that when I sorted by Completion % the splits are exactly aligned with pocket time (every QB has better completion % with less than 2.5 sec pocket time than with >2.5).

Bottomline; Rodgers had the worst completion % and second worst QB rating when he had to hold the ball.

Sidenote; Drake Maye is a damn good QB. And if he repeats this year with a tougher schedule, the Patriots may have just lucked into another Brady. :sorry:

I know this is from the ever dependable Depot, but Todd Haley is an OC in the UFL now. How much of Aaron Rodgers is he actually watching? Beyond that, why is someone asking him about Aaron Rodgers? The whole 'conversation' makes zero sense.

I like the optimism and am hoping 'different' = 'better'. We'll find out soon enough.

Per post #664 this graphic shows the difference in Completion % between <2.5 sec and 2.5+sec in the pocket. Steelers (Rodgers) got some way to catch up. A little surprised by Allen but he's been known to throw gaffes when extending plays.

Maybe. I have no idea either. Just someone is interviewing Todd Haley and asks him his thoughts on Aaron Rodgers at this time. Why? It doesn't make sense why that conversation is even happening. Plus, Haley actually giving some type of analysis answer? I'm doubtful this conversation even happened. Haley is the OC for a team in the UFL. How much attention is he giving to Aaron Rodgers week to week?
The smell test is just a little off with this one.

And... let's say it's Haley just talking on his own show. Again, how much is he actually watching Aaron Rodgers? And why?

Everyone can have their opinion, and Haley knows a lot about quarterbacks in the NFL. He's been in the NFL for around 20 years and he coached Kurt Warner and Roethlisberger, so he has credibility. His take on the current Rodgers is far from being a bad or hot take.

Regarding Maye, I believe they do. I thought they got a good one when they drafted him and then during his first season, which wasnt great, teh team around him was awful but you could tell by watching him he was the real deal.

We’ll see if he bounces back from that SB, he got his confidence shaken in that beat down.

He talks Steelers football on this show weekly, It’s not really his show I dont think, it’s the other guy and Haley is the guest, not really certain of the format but I have seen several segments of it, he offers good insight, never been a Haley fan but he seems different in this setting than the guy whos personality people hated as a coach.
