Underrated: William Gay - One of my favorite Steelers that wasn't a big name of all time
HM: maybe Farrior, Heath, or Kiesel

Overrated: this was a hard one. Najee Harris is recent and relevant, Woodley was overrated after he got paid...
HM: idk... last couple years of Minkah? I can't think of someone else that was pretty consistently overrated aside from Harris.

    Underrated: Big Daddy Lipscomb.

His time, both in Pittsburgh and in life, was tragically short but he made one big impact (no pun intended). Even by his era's standards, dude was a giant Defensive Tackle and was among the NFLs first true Super Freaks at the position. A shame he isn't remembered by many Steelers fans but the dude was an animal during the two seasons he played in the Black 'n' Gold. For that matter, he even was a Senior Nominee for the Pro Football HOF this past season.

    Honorable Mention: Joel Steed.

He isn't as celebrated as much as his successor Casey Hampton but Steed was one of the best NTs of his era yet he doesn't receive the same recognition as the likes of Levon Kirkland or even Chad Brown. Without Steed's tremendous power and anchor, those 90s Steelers Defenses could have been likely a bit easier to run on than without.

    Overrated: Mike Wallace.

Even among the "Young Money Crew", Wallace was the weakest of the three. That said, so many people forgave that due to his ridiculous speed and ability to separate near instantaneously at the LOS. Problem is, he never did that at the level that so many of his fans would expect one to believe. If anything, his lone Pro Bowl was with Pittsburgh and I recall that a many of people feared that Wallace would be an All Pro if he wasn't resigned. To the shock of the few that truly analyzed his game, that never happened.

    Honorable Mention: Big Ben

A Hall of Famer?! Sure. An All Time Steelers Legend?! Absolutely. Outside the Top 10 among All Time Steelers ever?! Most definitely. I have said many times before and will so again; 2005-2012 was Troy Polamalu's Team and not his. 2013 onward, Big Ben never reached the Super Bowl ever again; only one AFC Championship Appearance during that time. Quite a bit happened during 2013 until the end of his career but if he truly was the "rising tide that lifted all boats"..... those tides clearly were not good enough.

Most underrated has to be Andy Russell. He was overshadowed by Lambert and Ham, but Russell belongs in the HOF with them. Yes, he belongs in the HOF even moreso than LC & H Ward.

I'm going to get blasted for my most overrated pick, but hear me out:

Bradshaw was good, but I don't think he was as good as he was made out to be. He couldn't even hold on to the starting job for his first 4 plus years. He didn't shine until he was surrounded by all pros. He sucked until he had a great running game and an O Line that gave him enough time to drink a cup of coffee while in the pocket. Even then, he'd throw the ball over Swanns head, only for #88 to catch an uncatchable ball. I think Bradshaw was carried by the team around him .

Most over and under rated player was one in the same - Duck Hodges. Not much of a player but sure hitched a pretty good mate with wealth and fame in Lainey Wilson. Go figure. :applaud:

For anyone who ever visited the Stillers (with an "I") website, Still Mill would definitely vote for Jason Gildon as over-rated.
He hated Gildon. Really really hated him. Example post, from when Gildon was cut by the Steelers.

For some reason, the posts SM made after each game criticizing Gildon reminded me of a classic song featured on Dr. Demento:

Franco Harris is a Hall of Famer, but I've always felt he's a bit overrated. The guy fumbled the ball 90 times in his career — tied for the most ever by a running back. His rookie season was easily his best (over 1,000 yards at 5.6 yards per carry), yet his career average sits at just 4.1 yards per carry. He had some brilliant moments, especially in the playoffs, but far too often he was just... dull and plodding.

He ran out of bounds too often.

My favorite Still Mill saying was... "The Whalesh!t Counter" with fullback Jon Witman. Slow as whale sh!t. :lolol:

The weekly Dong reports were funny too. Stillers.com is still going... Mill still does game recaps with a lot of sarcastic and cynical humor he's known for.

    Mike Wallace
    Diontae Johnson
    Minkah Fitzpatrick
    Patrick Peterson
    Jalen Ramsey

i think the reverse is true for Terry. I think he is frequently underrated. There is no better big game Qb. People rank other Qb’s ahead of him based on stats but that doesnt tell the story of how good he was, he called his own plays, studied film, good at reading defenses. Tough, he didnt get rattled, in fact he played better under pressure.

What's up with all of the double posting on the board replies?

This board needs a decent IT guy to help run it.
