Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy owe SB 45 to the Steelers. Let's do this!!!

That's OK. A franchise QB is the most important asset of a franchise. You pay that price if you believe you've found that guy. The Steelers don't want to tank. No matter what they "pay", it won't be like what the Clowns literally paid for Watson.

True, but it would have been impossible to have those generational players without a season of 60 losses or more.

If we look at the Steelers, without a top-5 pick in the 1969 draft (Joe Greene) and the first overall pick in 1970 (Terry Bradshaw), I don't think the Steelers would have become a dynasty in the 1970s.

Even in the 2000s, if the Steelers had finished 8-8 or 9-7 in 2003 instead of 6-10, it would have been very unlikely to have a franchise quarterback in the 2004 draft, therefore no Super Bowl appearances in 2005, 2008, and 2010, and no 15-1 season in 2004.

Sometimes, we have to look at the big picture instead of always focusing on the short term when we don't have a chance of being a true contender... Unfortunately, it's too late to trade Watts for two first-round picks.

Not sure I'd call drafting OL in the first, WR in the 2nd, drafting 2 QBs in 2 years and signing a FA WR "treading water" but everyone has their opinions. You must have skipped watching the Steelers most of the 80's! LOL

I'm not exactly thrilled about Rodgers but he will be the best QB on the team while coaches are developing Howard and Allar. It feels like a team with a plan to me.

I'd be shocked if Howard was the odd man out. They know what they have in Rudolph. And it's not that much. They know very little about Howard at this point and they hired the QB whisperer at head coach. That would be nutz to get rid of Howard to keep Rudolph.

Where can I put money on the Steelers jettisoning Rudolph?!

I'm sure there are 21 other guys on the team that wouldn't feel great about having 'tryouts' at QB for a season.

Welcome to another mediocre season with quick wildcard exit, at best. New boss, same as the old boss.

8-9, 9-8 or 10-7 (with Rodgers) ain't gonna do squat for us in the draft. And it sure as hell ain't gonna win a Super Bowl or much less make a conference championship appearance... so the other 21 guys would do their best to help the YOUNG QB to win and learn while winning.

They did give Mason 2 years last year if that adds to the thought

A lot of assuming that he has some sort of "I'm the only starter for this season" clause.

I'm more inclined to go with:
    McCarthy wants to develop someone
Rogers doesn't want to get broken
All Howard/Allar has to do is look halfway like they might can run a game.

Some posters think you can run a team like a video game

I’m guessing the same people have never been personally responsible for managing a lot of people in a high pressure position

Heck some of them can’t form a thought on their own without checking the internet to know what repost

Hence the 2-3 people who mistakenly still think we should have kept Pickens DJ Najee and now some think we should waste a season trying to ruin two young quarterbacks rather than nurturing them

Rodgers was fairly healthy last year. Highly doubt that happens this year being another year older. I think we will see what Howard or Allar can do unless they go with Mason but I have to think he is the one cut??

I see we have the ancient apologist for the Steelers who will rip any player who leaves and thoughtlessly defend any move the Steelers make.

He fails to understand that managing people includes dealing with difficult personalities for the sake of the overall team. Funny how someone like that thinks regurgitating anything the Steelers release or leak counts as thinking for himself.

    Even worse?!

He is a Senior Writer for stillcurtain.com

This is the same dumbass that stated that Mel Blount is overrated.

The only overrated thing I see with him is his articles; offensively offensive as they are not very good.

If the Steelers had only gone winless in 1982 they could have drafted Elway.

Trying to rewrite history with what-ifs will send one down a quantum rabbit hole.

Besides, I am holding out hope that Kahn is operating differently and willing to part ways with talent to improve draft positions in trades. Highsmith and a pick to move up in 2027.

I am indifferent about Rodgers coming back, wanted to see Allar or Howard, sigh, one more year of can-kicking and worse draft position in 2027. It fits the Art codependency philosophy.

I am more interested in what happens to Rudolph, Allar, and Howard. How do they look in preseason and practice? Does Rudolph get traded? Does Howard get stashed on the practice squad? Will they risk putting any QB on the practice squad?

    Not surprising.

Hoping that Batch is $10mm too high on the contract and that we pay him basically what that tag value was ~ $15mm. Maybe with some incentives similar to what we did with Cam where he gets the money if he gets the personal stats + team playoff success. That way they're all (1) "unlikely to be earned" in a cap sense and (2) in a real-life sense.

Rodgers apparently still owns a home in Pittsburgh (Canonsburg)

Maybe he is just visiting his home
