If Allar flops, was it a bad trade? If not, your argument is bogus nonsense.

Again, did the Chiefs have a losing season to do it?? I believe they went 12-4, that is far from a losing season.
All I'm trying to impress here is You don't have to have a losing season. Too many great Qbs, and players have been taken in the last 10 pick of the 1st, and beyond for people to say we must have a losing season to get good players. What you have to do is pick the right players. Again it's not when You pick, but who you pick.

That didn't answer the question. You ran away in fear again, just as I said you would do.

Here is the question again. How does asking people's opinion on the draft equate to whining? This is when you deflect/run away again. I guarantee will you run from the question again. Don't be so scared of me : )

Yeah but I didnt make that argument :lolol:

Ive simply been saying being in better draft position is a silver lining to having a bad season.

I never advocated for tanking and I never said you can only get better by having a high draft pick.

It does undeniably put you in better position to draft the elite talent which dries up very quickly.

I think he means that if they fill every hole they were drafting for need instead of trusting their board and picking the guy they think was best.

But maybe that's just because my bias is more toward BPA than need.

He also referenced you never quoting me, but you did quote me in the post to which I responded.

You keep instigating these engagements, then pulling this crap when I ask a question or make a point you can't handle. Pick a lane.

We've had other losing seasons , and didn't get a Ben Roethlisberger. Some people, and I'm not saying you, act like the season we got Ben was the only losing season we had between him, and Bradshaw, but it wasn't. Hell we had back to back losing seasons in 98, and 99, and I don't remember getting a Ben Roethlisberger then.

I see someone wants to argue that Allar becoming a quality starter would justify the terrible Pickens trade, but can't acknowledge that this would also mean the trade is even more disastrous if Allar is a bust. When confronted with the reality that either both or neither must be true, the he wants no part of the discussion he started. Interesting.

By the way, the first round picks that followed those seasons were Troy Edwards No. 13 overall in 1999 and Plaxico Burress No. 8 overall in 2000.

The first-round pick the year before those, by the way, was Alan Faneca. They got him with the 26th overall pick.

The 2001 first-round pick, taken 19th overall, was Casey Hampton.

    Hmmmm

Steelers should have picked Javon Kearse in 1999... best player available. This was Donohoe's last year of GM and Edwards was a bad pick after a losing season. Cowher won that war.
Steelers made the right pick with Plaxico Burress in 2000. Chad Pennington? Had the Steelers drafted him... they probably wouldn't have taken Ben in 2004. Not sure if Pennington had the talent to put Steelers over the top, like Ben did. Probably not.
Steelers made a great pick with Hampton in 2001... and good pick with Simmons in 2002.

I don't even have to get into our HOF picks in the first round of 2003 and 2004.
