It’s the first post in the thread.

We’re specifically talking about teams calling players to inform them they are drafting them when they arent on the clock yet. Common sense says no that doesnt happen frequently and two executives have stated as such.

The answers to all of this have been provided and documented in the linked materials in the thread. Some are simply not willing to believe it or let it go. Evidence provided has said the following:

    1. Some, not all, teams call picks prior to being on the clock. Former Panthers FO dude Bucky Brooks said it was "common" practice but not universal. Steelers seem to do it with first round picks.
    2. The rule is believed to date to the previous analog world where if you tied up the phone line long enough, a team would just draft someone else. Clearly that is no longer an issue with everyone having a hundred ways to be contacted, call waiting, and ever present agents for most draft picks.
    3. The one individual saying there should be an investigation is a former front office guy for the Iggles looking to get retweeted.

It certainly has all the ingredients of a tempest in a teapot.

So if Dallas and Philly dont work the trade there is no issue? I'll admit I dont get into the draft nearly as much as some of you do so my first reaction was doesn't this stuff happen all the time? Im sure if it was the Steelers in the Eagles place I'd have a more negative opinion but I'm pretty meh about it.

Had no trade been worked out we never would have known because Dallas never would have been calling Lemon.

It only became a big deal because there is video of Lemon on the phone with Khan asking why is Philly calling me.

Yes, Im responding to people quoting me. Or if I come across something new in regards to the topic I’ll post it here. There is nothing for me to let go because I am not the one investigating the Steelers, the league is.

People have commented that Brooks is talking about the later rounds when reaching out to players likely to be UDFA.

It’s not just the former Eagles executive, a second one has chimed in, I dont remember who.

I dont have as much faith in Goodell as you do. I seem to recall several times he has screwed the Steelers.

There has, from what I have seen, been no announcement of an official NFL investigation from the NFL. Anything I can find is a dramatic headline on top of someone SPECULATING that the NFL MAY decide to investigate.

You are clearly convinced that this is a big deal. Maybe it is. Prior to someone showing me actual evidence that this is an actual issue, I am advocating consigning it to the "everything on the internet is a crisis" dustbin that it crawled out of.

Ok, I’ll ignore people who engage me in conversation from now on for things you find trivial.

That's what I'm getting at. It seems there's a lot of other things they need to be looking into besides we were on the phone with a guy we thought we were about to draft then.

You keep repeating only PORTIONS of ALL the available information.

That is my point. I avoided quoting you in attempt to not get into it.

But, you clearly want this to be a thing and a big deal. The only evidence that it is a big deal, to date, is speculative sensationalism. All sourced and verified quotes squash this.

But you consistently only repeat the speculation/sensationalism and claim that this thing has legs with each of your posts.

Exactly. The only places talking about this are clickbait blogs and AI generated slop.

I do not pretend to know the whims of the NFL. They may slowly grind through their inscrutable process and determine this is a thing and mete out some punishment. But, as I sit here and type this, no one with any actual information has even stated this is on the league's radar.

What the hell are you talking about??? I saw a new post on the topic and relayed it here, thats it. Would you like me to include cliff notes from every post that includes prior information with each new post of mine?

And if you truly didn't want get into it you wouldnt have made a passive aggressive remark in your post.

There is NOTHING you posted that squashed it, just what you want to believe. Thats the problem with the whole topic, they’re is nothing conclusive out there and no journalists asking questions about what is intereference as @NorthernBlitz@NorthernBlitz has stated.

I get both sides of the argument and why people are feeling one way or another about it, I just look at it as a calculated risk. This could be Ravens/Viking fiasco part 2 where nobody remembers it 2 years from now

It was posted that "interference" was originally focused on teams calling draft picks and not letting them off the phone to get in touch with other teams. Or for misleading a draft prospect about what another team is doing.

It was posted that no league sources are talking about opening an investigation. It was further posted that teams talk to players prior to selecting them often enough that some league watchers do not find it unusual.

But you and others keep asking the same questions. It seems as if the intent is to convince yourself and others that this is a simmering crisis.

Like, I said, the league may eventually determine they want to do something on this. But, currently, they have not and do not seem to be contemplating it.
