Adam Schefter is reporting that we just traded Adrian Robinson to the Eagles for Felix Jones.

No one. No need to cut anyone right now.

Why? Quick look at his numbers, they aren't great, best season was 800 yards. Hope this is a depth move, otherwise they don't have a whole lot of faith in their other horses.

Thats what I was thinking. I know Bell is hurt, but we have a bunch of other guys on the roster.

I was saying if he makes the team. Or do you think they might keep him around until Bell comes back IF Bell can? This has to spell bad news about Bell I think.

I think this says more about what we are going to do this year. Jones should be good behind a ZB scheme.

Just like the saying in hockey "You can never have too many defensemen", I guess the Steelers are going with "You can never have too many running backs".

I actually like the move. Robinson did show some talent, but was he ever going to be anything other than a ST contributor? I'll take Felix's pedigree. He also had over 1200 total yards one year.

The only question is, eventually, who will be the odd man out? Either way, there is no way to say we came out on the wrong end of this trade.

I honestly can't remember the last time the Steelers made a trade like this. It's great they're being proactive, but I would have preferred some fresh blood for the o-line. This move could be a sign of a few different things- Bell might be out for a bit, not real pleased with Alexander, or maybe they're aren't pleased with Batch. My best guess is it has something to do with one of the first two and more than likely the first.

I'm mixed about the move.... jones has some skills, and can be a big play back at times, but he is also extremely fragile, and the last thing we need is another oft injured rb. On the roster

Yeah, that would definitely be like catch lightning in a bottle...twice. Unfortunately, I don't see it. I think this move is nothing more an attempt to upgrade the position past Dwyer and Redman.

as I've said in some other threads, LSH is going to be a big part of this offense, but we had nobody with his skillset behind him. we do now. good move. we need guys that can get through these holes quickly in this scheme. philly is getting a pretty good one too. robinson has done some good things.

    :thumbs_up::cool:

Exactly what I was going to say. Couldn't agree more. LSH and Bell must me hurt more than they are letting on. Batch should be gone but I don't think Felix plays special teams. Hopefully we will see him tomorrow night against the KC.

I was hoping oline help but maybe it wasn't any takers. I think oline depth across the league is low.

It's just another move to try and get an entire team with the last names Jones or Brown. Simple.

Seriously though, hasn't he been injured most of his career? Haven't looked it up, but I seem to remember him being sidelined a lot.

robinson may never pan out and with baxter showing stuff he was replaceable. we got a serviceable rb for an undrafted olb. I think this spells the end of batch. Also Jones has never been a full time starter.

I dunno how i feel about this...:hmmm: Adrian Robinson had some promise Jones is with his 3rd team in 3 years...I do know Robinson played special teams and made a few plays last yr and this pre season and i would think Jones would jump Batch which puts him on the chopping block and he is one of our best special teams players.....So this trade may take away 2 of our better special teams guy's and we all know we can't afford to loose those.

    Interesting....

While I did like Robinson...like most...but he was pretty much ST only at this point (unless there were a couple OLB injuries). It seems like Carter will be kept now as one of the BU OLBs (unless Sly shows he's better)...and they must like this Baxter person (though I havent seen much) and he'll be the PS OLB.

I guess in the coming days/week...we'll find out WTF is going on. Will Bell miss more time than expected (if so will they "special" IR him?)? Is Batch the odd man out now? Do they keep them all? Who knows...
