Should the Steelers run it back with Rodgers or not?

So were Trubisky and Fields "developed" when they arrived at Steelers? How good would Justin Fields or Mitch Trubisky be under McVey? Shanahan? Baker Mayfield seemed to "all of a sudden" miraculously play better when he was QB for Rams for only a few games. I wonder why that is? Was Mayfield "developed?" :confused1:

What about Mack Jones with Shanahan? :confused1: What about Daniel Jones with Steichen? :confused1:

I could use your advice, and say I'm correct because nobody agrees with You ,but they did me, but I won't because that doesn't make something correct. Any person that believes a 12 year starting Qb was developed by a HC 12 years later is either high, or just trying to argue. The only difference between Stafford then , and now is he's on a better team. I've already said Darnold was getting better. I've stated many times on the board that I believe a player will continue to get better if he can keep himself in the NFL, until his body starts to betray him, and not only that, he was also put on a better team.
Here is an example: Did Tomlin, and Co. develop Justin Fields, or did he just play on a better team here?? Him losing his job after he left us should tell you the answer.

Trubisky and Field have never been developed. Neither one have ever been any good. Coaches TRIED to develop them but failed.

Mayfield played well everywhere he's been. Of course, his stats are going to be better on better run teams.

You're equating improving stats with being developed. Not the same. But I don't have a horse in this race. I just think you are mixing up "developed" and "getting the best out of".

Bring back Rodgers unless we can trade for Mathew Stafford.

I think I know. Rogers is the best option this year.

Now whether he plays we shall see. But I expect he will look at the additions and see an opportunity to remind the league he can still spin it.

Arron ( healthy ) is worth about 2 wins this year, BUT I doubt he will start 14 or more games. And the sooner he leaves, the better it will be for the other QB's to gain experience as starters.

We are not a player away from the super bowl right now. So, what is the point of going with a soon to be 43 year old QB? The money will be better spent elsewhere on the salary cap! That is what I say.

In a perfect world, we sign Arron for a 10 game contract with a team option for the other 7 games.

He has not committed yet, at least publicly. No way should the Steelers allow him to force our hand.

The fans expect a decision before minicamp which starts in less than two weeks. To Mr. Rodgers, &#^t of get off the pot.

Maybe he has already committed privately, but he has not signed a contract signaling his commitment.

Welp, if he signs the tender for $15M then that is about the value of a starting QB for half the NFL season. The only starting QB making less than AR would be Cam Ward. I would say that is good value.

Might the Steelers be better off singing a veteran free agent who is not 42?

    nfl-draft

Several NFL QB's project to start in 2026 will make less than 15 million, not just Ward.

I’ve explained this to you before but I’ll do it again

He was only offered a contract 3 days ago

Mandatory camp which concerns him starts June 2

And what you expect is irrelevant just like the hug you didn’t get from Tomlin

And I say he has not committed.
Who cares when he was offered a contract???

As of May 2, 2026, Aaron Rodgers has not yet signed a contract for the 2026 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

i was reading today that sawyer robertson from baylor has a tryout only from the raiders and they may not sign him at all. if rodgers doesn't come back and we roll with the three we have would or should we bring him in as well? they did meet with him in the pre draft process. had good numbers and size. they talked about carrying 4 QB possibly. i'd get as many good prospects as possible if that is the way we are going. why not? see where the chips may fall.:cool:

There really isn't any. The best available are Tyrod Taylor, Cooper Rush, Jimmy G and Skylar Thompson. They might be a little bit better than Mason Rudolph but not much. We do need to have 4 QB's in camp though so we might have to sign one of these guys if Rodgers doesn't return.
