Damn that camaraderie was something else. Don't see that anymore with many of these teams nowadays. Then again, the rise of narcissism, sensationalism and worst of all, materialism has successfully destroyed the brotherhood of NFL Locker Rooms.

Why care about team where you can earn even more by being "me"?! Antonio Brown is the poster child for what not to do. Despite that, it keeps happening.

The NFL better figure out how to combat NIL before long. NIL isn't going away; getting much bigger in fact. I don't expect the NCAA to do much either given how they cave in time after time.

Yep. Players are staying college as long as they can and don’t have to even attend any classes. They make more money than their NFL rookie contracts will pay them.

Will Howard's NIL Deal nets him more than being a Steeler. That doesn't surprise me one bit as that shows out out of hand NIL has gotten. For that matter, I anticipate 8 figure NIL Deals for College Football Players next.

I blame cellphones, social media, video games. Sitting and texting or playing games rather than conversing. I'm really fearing the onset of AI and human interactions. Personal interactions with deep connections are becoming rare.

A solution; changed the CBA rules to allow entering the NFL at age 19, right out of high school. Make those contracts separate from regular NFL contracts as developmental and allow the players to be coached by NFL staff while physically growing and learning the game. You can pay these players similar to NIL money.
Owners would probably hate this model because they will put more money at greater risk of failure in these young players. But unless they create a minor league there aren't many other options.

Other than requiring these athletes to actually attend classes to remain eligible to play, I'm not sure what the NCAA can do. This was the result of losing battle after battle in court.

President Trump signed an executive order to try to control NIL earlier this month, but his attention quickly went elsewhere and I doubt there will be any real impact.

Nick Saban and some other high ranking college coaches were the driving force behind the President's executive order. Some of the new rules are no more than 5 years of college eligibility, only one transfer allowed, if a player wants to transfer a second time he has to sit out a year. There were other things too but this was the basics of it.

I said when it started it would get out of hand, and fast, and I believe that the powers that be would let it until people got so fed up with it they would beg them to do something about it. I believe you can find this all I said somewhere in the college football section of this board.

My job brought me in contact with hundreds of people in my community. Back in 2000 when the internet was taking off I'd say to everyone, "Technology is going to bite our species in the ass". TBH, I said it as a joke. I had zero idea how far we would go. I'm retired now but when old customers see me out around town they remind me I use to say it and call me a prophet.

Honestly...if the NFL wants to do something about this, they should just have their own minor leagues.

I don't really follow NCAA, but I'm glad that NIL means those kids that play at least get something. NCAA programs claiming that these kids can't get paid because they're students is idiotic...especially these days. How many students on campus aren't working to put themselves through college? Hell, how many of them are employed by the universities they go to as TAs or working at food services or something?

NCAA football and basketball should have done something to minimize how much they were totally screwing the players financially. They they might have been able to delay or avoid what they ended up getting.

But they needed to squeeze all the blood from every stone they found for as long as they possibly could.

Many years ago I had a friend who bore more than a passing resemblance to Big Snack, and he would eat wings the same way the Keisel described. He and I put away a 50 piece at Hooters on more than one occasion, and I did not do the primary damage.

Had a friend that did the same but his technique was a little different. He would grab the end of the wing, stand it up on the plate and then press down pushing the meat to the end and then put it in his mouth like Keisel explained it and came out bone dry.

NCAA football is just kinda gross. Kids that had no NFL shot and no NIL money can barely walk at 30 because they didn't want to let the team down or lose their scholarship or whatnot. And their fancy degree is in underwater basketry and communications studies.

NFL should work to set up a legit minor league system. Like junior hockey or something. And if you are 19 and wreck your spine, you should have insurance and medical care via your professional contract.

Then, maybe, just maybe, schools could go back to not bleeding themselves white to maintain a football program. The highest paid public salary in most states would be something other than the D1 football coach.
