Oh I thought he was saying that since we went to the Super Bowl that year he was saying maybe we would make it back to the Super Bowl this year. I was talking to all of us. But now that I realized I must have read it wrong I guess I will just shut up. LOL.

Playing sloppy in the preseason WILL carry over to the regular season and they better worry about it, preseason is when players are supposed to be sharpening their skills and playing together as a unit, so far they haven't been doing that, and they only have one game left for the starters to show improvement because game 4 will be the rookie and backups chance to make the roster: Watching ben playing like a rookie throwing a screen pick makes me wonder about his ability to be sharp on opening day, at best this team looks like they are going to be slow out of the blocks in September, and could be 0-3 before they get any rhythm, that's my thoughts based on their performance from what ive seen so far.....

The Pats are losing to the Lions 40-9. Preseason is what it is.

It's our O Line, we need some major work among this corps. We all know that Ben has the skills to pay the bills but if he can't get the damn ball out of his hands because our O line is about as useful as tits on a boar.

Here is a question for the optimists. What if we tore it up in the preseason? Then a lot of people on here would be really happy and expecting big things right? Well here's the question. Would all of you that say "it's only preseason" when we are doing bad also say "it's only preseason" when we are doing good? I'm honestly not trying to be inflammatory. I'm just saying would you still be saying that or would you be excited? The reason I say this is because IF you would be excited it would be based on what you've seen so far. So isn't it kind of hypocritical to then dog on guys to be upset over what they've seen so far? Again, I'm not trying to dog anyone one way or the other. I'm just saying that I just thought of that and was honestly wondering what those who are optimists NOW would be like if things were going good. Would that then make pessimists out of optimists? I hope everyone reads this the right way and doesn't get the idea that I'm calling them out on something because I'm honestly not.

For rest of week I am smiling like I dont know any better, to take a few days off of being a realist. Take a break from being someone who just thinks this team continues to show the same results weather preseason or regular season, they are getting mauled at the LOS.. and knowing what it means

Even though I have always been a not to high or low in preseason or after a win or loss guy, I have seen a pattern the last 2 seasons and it has stayed true this preseason. The offense has become very mediocre and the Defense though ranked high doesnt force turnovers or create big plays. It can only mean 2 things. The other teams know how to attack the Steelers offense- play efficiently against their defense or that the Steelers have less talent then most the other teams.... I seriously feel it has become the latter. From seeing Pouncey play on his toes and get his ass kicked (and the majority of S fans hold his package), D lineman who get their asses kicked to the continued WR screen plays that just give me the craps.

This team better admit to needing rebuild and get on with it, Get going with it. Holdiing on and not rolling the roster will just cause time.

There is no correlation between record in the preseason and results of the season.

Detroit Lions once went undefeated in the preseason and failed to win a game the entire year.

While I would prefer not to go winless, based on past SB winners, 1.66% of the teams which went winless won the SB. (1 for 61)

Teams which went undefeated...3.33% of the teams who won EVERY preseason game won the SB. (2 for 60)

    33 Super Bowl winners went 1-3, 2-2, or 3-1. 3.44% or 33 out of 977.

While there is some statistical significance for not winning ANY preseason games vs. winning 1 or more, it isn't so great that you can argue ANYTHING that you do in preseason affects and "carries over" to the regular season. Does anyone believe that the Panthers are that much better than the Ravens or that the Lions are that much better than the Pats? I don't.

Football is more than just physical ability, you have to have some heart and guts .Play with some urgency, we have not done it and it shows. I can't believe these young guys. If I was trying to make the team,I would do everything possible to show these coaches I belong.
Coach T is NOT connecting with these ball players.

what i dont understand is how can we have so many top draft picks on the OL and they just cant pass block? i would love one of the great memebers here to be able to pull a statistic... id love ot take the top 5 starting OL on a team and see where they were drafted... i bet we have the most top picks of any team devoted to our OL and yet.. they suck.. pouncy is getting worse every game... he said he was gonna be the leader of the line.. hahah .. he better get his own S&*T together before he tries to lead anyone...

    It's only preseason but ...
Ben needs to work on his slides.
Mr.Clean needs to learn to scramble to his left.
Jones and JPW need somehow just to continue to stay alive.

IF.... And, it`s a BIG IF.... we were playing fundamentally sound football, BFT, then, yes, I would be excited about this pre-season.
Regardless of wins or losses, just the starters playing like they knew what the hell they were doing...
That would be all it would have taken for me to continue my off-season optimism, into the regular season.
As is, yes, these pre-season games have given me serious pause, to stop and re-consider what I was being optimistic about...
For instance, I truly thought our veterans would have learned a lesson about bein complacent/sloppy...
I thought the team as a whole, would have their nose back to the grindstone, and set out to show that they know they are better than what they "put on tape" last year...
So far, It looks like same old, same old...
Being the eternal optimist that I am, I can ATTEMPT to tell myself, that they are just "playing possum", and gonna surprise the rest of the league, when they snap out of hibernation, and start playing the games that count.
Realistically, tho... I expected much better perfomances, even in the preseason.
Not win or loss-wise, but basic perfomance wise...
They have left me with a baaaaddd feeling...
And I truly hope that once the real season starts, they magically morph into a mistake-free, executionally sound football team...
But I was always brought up to believe hat you play how you practice.
And to be honest, these "practices" have not been encouraging...
    GO STEELERS!!!

    :herewego!:
