"The best QB rating of any QB in 2023 in the regular season." You do realize that he only played 3 games and they were against Jake Browning, Geno Smith and Tyler Huntley? He then promptly crapped the bed in the playoff game throwing a critical pick in the end zone that handed the Bills the win. There are lots of backup QB's who have had a good 3 game stretch before. Duck Hodges won his first 3 starts against Philip Rivers, Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield. Then never won another NFL game after that.

And that is why he does not deserve to start and we should roll with rookies?

They might be good, we know Rudolph isn't.

Why would anyone other than the Steelers want their young quarterbacks because so many here say they suck and are wasted picks? Nobody is as dumb as the Steelers to draft them, right? Why would any other team want them? They should be as safe on the practice squad as anything can be according to fans.

Of course they won't put them on the practice squad because other teams would pounce on them and the Steelers would lose them.

Duck had woeful arm strength and does not have physical tools to succeed in NFL. He never led the league in passing albiet for 3 game stretch Mason has an NFL arm and physical tools that Duck did not have. Mason also won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in college given to the best QB in college. He had the pedigree and that is why Steelers had first rd grade on him. He won against Seattle in Seattle which is always a tough place to play (Bradshaw or Ben never won in Seattle). Also Geno Smith was having a good year and Seattle was fighting for a playoff spot. I remember people saying after Cincinnati game that the real test will be against the Seahawks. He passed that test. He brought the Steelers back against the tough Bill defense at Bills. He did throw that interception, but when your running backs are having trouble punching it in from two yard line, you try to do too much. This was his first playoff game and just his 15th start and he put steelers in a position to be competitive, when the defense was doing jack ****. Mason also played better than Rodgers when he relieved him against Cincinnati last year. People say he stunk in Tennessee. When he got a chance to start, the team was already out of playoffs. No one really wanted to win. He actually got the coach (Callahan) his first win, when he played almost the entire game against the Patriots in relief of Will Levis who got credited with the win. He was in a bad situation at Tennessee and both the coach and GM got fired shortly after. Titans couldn't do much with Cam Ward either last year. Mason is not elite but definitely the best QB on the team, and that includes 43 year old Rodgers.

they should go into the preseason with 4 and come out with 3. I wouldnt trade MR until i see what Howard and Allar can do in real game situations (preseason games anyway)

If teams know we we know we arent cutting Allar or Howard, why not just wait for us to cut Rudolph and then sign him instead of giving up something in a trade?

True. They also have Skylar Thompson still I think. So maybe they try to move one of them now and keep the other through preseason at least.

People didnt think Dobbs had any trade value and they got a 5th for him or maybe it was a 6th.

Point being GMs are more willing to give up late rd picks then fans are, happens all the time.

Yes they could, but what if they are not a priority on the NFL waiver list?

Hence a team might trade a 7th round pick for him, rather than wait thier turn on the waiver wire list for Rudolph to become available to them to pick up.

I trust Khan on trades way more than I trust him to sign veteran free agents on their 2nd contact! In this aspect of being a GM, he's no " Doctor Evil ".

Sure Metcalf, and Queen give us fair value relative to their hefty cap #. If it were up to me, I would diminsh his role on signed 2nd contract players.

Skylar is an unrestricted free agent. They signed him for $1.1 million for one year last year. It is only Rudolph and Will Howard that are under contract as of right now (Allar and Rodgers don't have a contract.). I liked Skylar in preseason. A good place for a back up seems to be Houston. Their starting qb, CJ Stroud has been awful and the fanbase is turning on him. They won some games in spite of him. They have a great defense. Halfway decent 'qbing ' could take the team deep into playoffs
