Who is on your radar? My most immediate needs for Day 3, especially the 4th round pick, are: S and ILB. That said, my #1 target heading into Day 3 remains Keionte Scott. I think he’s a 2026 contributor as a nickel.

Safety: Kilgore, K. Ramsey, maybe Wheatley? I know Wheatley was slow at the combine, but he looks like he can cover ground in pads. I see very mixed views about Taffee from Texas. He definitely lacks size for an NFL safety. We need safety help, and even if we spend our next pick on a safety I could see us dipping into post-draft FA for depth there. Let’s get one who can develop into more than a stop gap.

LB: I liked watching Boettcher from Oregon in the Fall. He looks like a potential average 3-down starting LB down the road, and a guy who can step in early if needed and not be a liability. That’s pretty good for a 4th or 5th. I’m curious what local fans think about Louis from Pitt. I haven’t watched a Pitt game in a few years. His highlight reels are intriguing and the online “gurus” project him as a hybrid player who could be exceptional in sub packages.

WR: I wouldn’t mind another WR who could see the field in 2026 here. I know Skyler Bell’s game really well, and he is a big value pick at this point. I also like Sarrat from watching Indiana’s run last year. He is a guy who I expect to be a quality 3rd or 4th WR for a while, and that’s good value in the 4th or 5th.

DL: We have enough to fill out the depth chart with capable players, and some of those guys still have developmental potential (Black, Lee). You always want a development pipeline for trench talent, but is there anyone left who fits that bill? Maybe Jackson from FSU, Capehart from Clemson or Benny from Michigan. Maybe we draft Thompson from Illinois in the 7th if he’s still there and redshirt him on the PS.

RB: Barring injury I don’t see a 3rd RB getting many snaps, but injuries happen. There are always capable, unspectacular RBs available in FA if you need them and we do have Johnson who could make a second year jump. I wouldn’t hate taking a solid RB like Coleman or Moss, but I don’t see it as a 2026 need in terms of the draft. There are other options.

I had to look it up because I watch the Lions and never saw Wheatley as slow. He ran 4.62 but had a nice 3 cone(6.89). Which for a Safety as big as him is pretty good. He has really nice acceleration. He's really good against the run and on blitzes. He takes good angles and plays under control. He looks huge on screen, very long and athletic without exceptional long speed. Throw him in the mix, he's got tools.

You mentioned Jackson from FSU and Capehart from Clemson at DT. Those guys fit what the Steelers look for in their DL, taller, long arms, tough. I think it would be nice to add another developmental piece to the room like Black last year. One of those two would maybe be good.

If we're going to take a swing on a traits wr I want Caldwell. He's a prototype 'freak' athlete. FREAK. 6'5/216, ran a 4.31 with a 1.48 10 yd split. Are you kidding me? 42 inch vert and 11'2 broad. With 33 inch arms. Crazy town.

The fact that even players like Genesis Smith, VJ Payne, Justin Joly and Jonah Coleman are available is silly. In the right system, you are talking about reliable, dependable starters. Doesn't sound like much but considering the rounds they will be drafted in?!

That is, by all definitions, a steal.

For the love of all that is good and holy, please let us draft a punter in the 7th round and put and end to our decades of pedestrian punters!

Agreed, I had to double-check some of those names before posting because I couldn’t believe they were still available.

I put this in another thread…give me a punter in the 7th! We need a blue chipper.

A safety and ILB would be welcomed today.

    Sleeper Safety: Xavier Nwankpa

McCoy is still available. Id like to see us grab a LB, too, Jimmy Rolder maybe.

Acknowledging no expertise whatsoever,,,, these are a few I hope they draft; Sarratt (can't believe he's available). Darrell Jackson. Jeff Caldwell. Lander Barton. Logan Fano. And my "make no sense pic" Taylen Green. After further review, I like yesterdays pics better today.
