exactly. i have already talked about this in some other threads where the so called experts have said only 9 players were first round rated in this draft. that is the lowest i believe ever. these two schools you could easily make a whole draft out of. there was a third school mccarthy was going to go to, but had to go to a funeral instead. i think it was LSU.

i would. that's where he may be the best. mccormick too. both played left all through college. maybe this staff won't play all these guys out of their normal positions. cook can play either side as a backup and driscoll can play the right as a backup. hoffman played right guard. left side and right solved.

When you talk about someone playing LT in college, I assume you’re talking about Fautanu. Miller played around 2,600 snaps at RT the last 3 years vs. 100 snaps at LT. I think moving Fautanu to LT could be a solution to the L/R issue, but if we target RT in the draft I like Iheanachor.

Ioane is fine, but trading up for him is not. He is a Guard. You don't trade up for one of them in round one.

yes to fautanu. yes to i like iheanachor better as well. fautanu with nfl experience would be a step better than a rookie i believe manning the blind side.

Sure feels like OL. They have 3 spots nicely locked up but the left side has questions. I'd have said WR but not after FA/trades and the Jones situation.

Second guess, DLine. Build those trenches.

Your trading up for the player, not the position. Vega is the best pure IOL in the class. In addition, he is arguably the safest player in the entire class no less; regardless of position.

Those qualities alone warrant the trade up.

Khan and McCarthy didn't go to Ohio State they only went to Georgia, maybe Weidl some scouts or assistants went to some more of the pro days.

If you have 12 picks I would do it Ioane is a plug and play player.

Boring "big ugly" pick... either DL or OL. Would be surprised at WR, ILB or CB. Would like to see Steelers go BPA for first two picks... at either DT/NT, OT/OG, WR, ILB or CB.

Yeah,I hope this is a great future wide receiver but I expect a another boring pick at the o-line position under Khan...DL is also possible

Hope they don't reach for a need. Just get the BPA at one of those 5 positions. We need a blue chip caliber first round pick. Haven't had one since Watt in 2017.

If they can trade up for a blue chip caliber player, they need to do this....If they can't and no one is available when they are on the clock,if they can trade down for a few pick in 2027,they need to do this....My dream is they do what the rams did last year when they trade down in the first round to have the first round pick of the falcons this year

I’d go WR in Round 1 or 2, and address LG and LT in Rounds 1 and 3. It’s the best approach with Rodgers at QB and for the future as well, imo.

    Question...
If the Steelers want to go OL at 21 and both their top rated OT and top rated OG are on the board (use your top guys), who should they select?

Old Swanny probably gave Steelers a good scouting guide.

It's not only who they pick, but more than anything they need to make the preparation of that player the priority, otherwise the pick may end being wasted.

Two recent firsts that were mismanaged this way were Pickett and Jones.

I hated the Pickett pick but even more how they handled him. When you draft a QB in the first, his timeline has to be his, not the stop gaps who are on the roster. You groom him from day one and when you deem him ready you create the situation for him to take over the starting role. Pickett debuting cold at halftime of another Trubisky disaster did him and the team no favours.

As for Jones, who I was in favour of at the time, they knew he was drafted as a project. he was drafted because the team knew that there was no LT of the future, and then they moved him to the right side because the LT of the past was incapable of moving to the right. Like Pickett, he should have been on his own timeline, and when he was ready to start at LT then he should have been installed.

BPA would be a refreshing change from the past 6 or 7 years of reaching (some working, some not).

You don't HAVE to find a starting OT in round 1. If you did your homework, a solid starter should/could be had in round 2 or 3.

If there is an OT run before pick 21, then take advantage of what has slid down the board.
