At worst this is an educated guess.

My guess is that every GM who isn't at pick 1 is calling to see what prices are to move up (or at least they should be).

Glazier is probably less connected to our FO now that Tomlin has retired.

But it stands to reason that (1) we should be calling around to see what prices look like to trade up (and down) and (2) we need OL since we don't have entrenched starters at LT and LG.

I think RB for sure (unless there aren't any other good options). Positional value is just too low for a 1st round pick.

WR maybe. We are probably OK for this year at WR1/2. But we need a long term answer for at least one of these spots. Generally, I'd be OK with a WR in rd 1. But it sounds like this year's crop is not many round 1 guys, but a bunch of guys with rd 2 value? That's just from what I've heard / read though. I watch very little NCAA football.

If there is truth to it, then it could be that report about Jones is true and Oline became even more important.

Even if Jones is healthy, we should probably be open to a LT IMO.

We haven't given a 5th year option to anyone who only qualifies for the playing time tier (3rd tier): Edmunds, Bush, Harris, Pickett (may not have reached the playing time tier if he stayed).

Jones doesn't meet the next criteria (probowl for real...not injury replacement). And he wouldn't have reached this tier even if he stayed healthy.

That probably means he woudln't have gotten the option either way.

I think that usually means the player doesn't stay with the team long.

Maybe it's different because LT is a premium position (unlike examples above except Kenny, who was not good). And I tend to think Jones was playing his best ball last year (except maybe right when he was inserted into the lineup at RT?). I wouldn't have hated it if we tried to get an extension with him (not the option).

But I think it was more likely he was off the team in a few years with or without the injury.

Schefter among others are reporting that Francis Mauigoa has a herniated disc that might need surgery down the road. He was a sure fire top 10 pick before this news, I still don't think he'll fall to 21 but if he does wow that would be tempting to take him despite the injury.
