Youch, that list is brutal. After Pouncey, I guess that makes Kemoeatu our 2nd best OL pick in the last decade. No es bueno

Would you put Colon below Kemoeatu? It would be interesting to see who committed the most penalties over the years...

I would for the simple fact that kemo was one of the better pulling guards in the league

Speaking of Hills - he just signed with the Raiders.

I wonder why we can't seem to draft lineman or do we just not develop them? Did we give up too soon on Urbik?

Well not to point out the obvious but with draft history like that 2 things

1 the guys who are scouting the college OL prospects need fired
2 not a good sign for those on list that the Steelers are waiting for to develop

Thanks Hack! This list brought back a couple of names I forgot. Several players stuck around longer than I thought.

Urbik was lambasted on the old board. Did we give up on him too early? I thought so and still do.
Never saw enough of him to render a decision.

    I agree.

Though I'm not sure he's raised his game to an amazing level, I'm still surprised how quickly we let him go given how high we picked him. We kept Bruce Davis around longer, after all.

He was there was a reason the steelers were 2nd best in the league when running to the right side in 2010 and that was because a lot of those runs had kemo pulling. He pretty much sucked at everything else.

Also Foster signed as an undrafted free agent... 2009

This is why I'm saying our O-line sucks now cus 4 of our 5 starters were drafted within the past 3 years,( still rookies in my book) they haven't played together long enough to become 1 unit. First they had to learn Todds system, now they have a new line coach, so now they have to learn his system which has to incorporate with Todds system.

Too much thinking is going on with these guys,,then add in they want to run the ball more which means they're probably practicing run blocking more than pass protection.. They need to balance things out. If these guys can stay healthy for 5 straight games, we'll see a huge improvement.

it's your story tell it how you want. you know we nearly doubled every other team in runs to the right that year. kemo wasn't that good. if the man was there waiting to be trapped he could hit that target, but if he had to turn upfield and lead he couldn't do that on the move. the backs also had to wait for him to get there. sorry I don't agree with your statement at all.

I agree. i also said in another thread these guy are not used to a traditional pocket passer. luck, Braxton miller, tebow, pryor all didn't sit in the pocket long or were running a lot so this alone is new to most of them and foster didn't play Guard at Tenn. he learned in a man scheme and said he never played in a zone scheme.

I don't have a subscription to steel city insiders but the title is so many reasons for optimism and part of the article says foster has been showing his kemo like power pulling. Like I said kemo wasn't good anywhere else but we he pulled he was very good.

Keep in mind that besides the passing game, you need a running back that will hit the holes quick and make the right moves after that. I saw Dwyer hit the holes and thought he was going to have a big gainer only to run right into defenders, when he had better options.

Agree totally. Whoever evaluates our olinemen needs to be fired immediately.
