Didn't James Harrison complain that on the league website they were busy selling prints of one of the hits he had that they fined him for?

Not everything is bad coaching. Sometimes people get so emotional that they just have a hard time identifying what is bad coaching and what is just regular football stuff going on. Just like they blame every interception on the quarterback when the ball is tipped at the line, hits the receivers in the hands and pops in the air, or a player falls down or runs the wrong route.

There are also some days when a team just goes out and plays a crappy game. No coaching in the world can overcome a team $hitting the bed on the field.

I keep saying it. $hit happens in football. Sometimes it's just simple luck that amounts to a football play that just goes against you. It doesn't mean that anybody did anything wrong or that the coach made an error. There are bounces in the game that just go against you sometimes.....coaches and players.

When I was reading your post, I was trying to imagine what Mike Tomlin must have been thinking as that snap went flying six feet over Ben's head for an easy defensive touchdown. Not much ole' Mike could have done about that one!

Putting all mistakes aside. A team can do almost everything right and still not succeed.

The internet broke all of us in so many ways. One of the ways is that every sports loss has to be assigned "blame". Sometimes there is no one to blame. You just lose.

The inability of all of us internet based fans to step back and see that leads to the overwrought debates about who did this and who did that. It gets a bit ridiculous. Not pointing to anything or anyone specific. But the general nature of Steelers and other team discussions is typically way too extreme. I am just as guilty of it as everyone else. Not when it comes to Mike McCarthy. There I am faultless.

I contend that betting has made it 10x worse. Fans with real money riding on real games. Anything that arouses suspicion around the outcome of a game results in social media explosions.

I'm referring to Tomlin's expertise, the defense was dookie. The offense had turnovers, but the defense is allowed to make stops.

This is a good point I had forgotten about. The Steelers had some key injuries on defense, and the D definitely wasn't as good after.

You are correct, but guess what. If the Defense made every single stop possible that day, which is almost impossible in today's NFL. The offense would have still given up 16 points. That'd saying if they made the O stay to field goals every time, because one turnover by our offense went straight for a TD, and I believe 3 more was within field goal position.

Tomlin should have been fired right after that terrible loss. I knew as soon as the jaguars came out onto the field which team was more prepared. Ours was looking to the next round instead. Never been more mad after a playoff loss. I remember every moment even though I went from :drinks: to :tequila:.

The loss to Jax was devasting, but I'm even more mad that my Steelers fandom of my late 40's and early 50's was wasted on Popcorn's futility and mediocrity. An entire decade down the toilet and we can't get those years back. I know Jets and Browns fans have it worse... but the bar has been lowered to where we would celebrate a playoff win, like we did Super Bowl wins in the past. It's sad.
