The kicker in Dallas want 10 millions per year.....If you were the Steelers, just how much would you be willing to pay Boswell for his new contract?

  3. TJ should have given his contract to Chris. Chris helped this team more than he could.

Boswell is entering that territory that you can totally pay him a ton of money...but hopefully you can negotiate it so that it is tied to still being able to do the job. Some kickers can do it forever....some of them it just evaporates in their mid to late 30's. Boswell is 34.

Maybe 6.5 million is the max for Boswell.

Yes, I wouldn't pay a kicker 10 million like Aubrey wants.

Funny, I saw this on the Pat Mccaffey show yesterday. Of course the former punter was all in favor of kickers making 10 million per year. :)

Great story for this kid who was just a few years ago kicking for the Birmingham Stallions in the USFL League.

All I know is everytime we resign Boz, it ends up being his worst year. It's like He super parties then. Hell last time when he resigned , about 7 guys on this board said he was done. I told them he'd be fine next year, and that he did that the last time they gave him a deal

In what way are we defining "worst" year? I know after he signed his first big money deal it was his worst statistical year but he rebounded after that season into being money. The only other season I can recall him having a number of missed field goals was that season Tomlin got conservative on offense but uncharacteristically aggressive on long field goal attempts where he was at Boz's limit on distance. Like it was 4th and a yard and a half just over the midfield line and he'd send Boz out rather than trying for the first down or pooch punting it. I always felt that season Tomlin was messing with Boz's confidence by putting him in that position even though he thought it showed confidence in Boz's ability to be a serial killer. I can't recall him having down seasons after the last two extensions like he did after that big payday. My memory gets the better of me sometimes so I might not be seeing it.

Just re-sign him for his current numbers with a bigger signing bonus.

Pay him. Saw so many kickers screw their teams last year.

Think having a kicker that is automatic makes people forget how bad it is when you dont have one.

No kicker has attempted more 50+ yd FG in the last five seasons than Aubrey. And one season he was perfect from that distance (10 for 10).

Gotta pay a kicker like Boz. But age needs to be a consideration here. Once a kicker's leg goes, it's over. Boz is 35. In the AFCN, maybe 4 seasons left?

Same thing with long snappers. People always want to cut them to save pennies on a dollar and then when they see horrible exchanges with the punter they complain and figure out why they pay 900k to a long snapper. It's all so you dont think about them.

Pay the man, he is also kicking in an arena not friendly to kickers.

    3 years/ 8 million per.

Exactly what I said. Look up every year that he signed a new contract, or extention, and those are his worst years .
I know for some of You it was somehow Tomlin. If it rains on the 4th of July to some of You it's Tomlin. LoL. I don't know how long you guys will be able to keep this up. I'm sure if we don't do something correctly this year it will be somehow related to Tomlin.

I am not questioning how you are categorizing worst I'm just curious as to what is the line. His job is to make field goals so that is totally dependent on his job. My only reason for bringing up Tomlin is because he is the guy who says yes or no on the attempt and for most of his tenure he was very conservative about making attempts where he knew Boz didn't have the leg for it. It's like trying to get an eagle on a par 5 when you know you only have 220 in your bag. It was a weird anomaly that year. Always i will look up the info and see but would still like some frame of reference for worst. Like did he miss 7 face those years instead of four? Did he make every attempt 40+ but cranked 3 attempts under 20 and have a few xp clank as well.

It's pretty simple. Almost every year he has signed a new contract during that year people start saying he's done.
I don't think so, but those are the years I've had to stick up for him. Right after his last resigning we had many on here saying it was stupid because he had a year that wasn't as good as usual. Players have down years, but on the Steelers you are not allowed this, just ask all the trade Watt, and Watt is done people on here, and if He goes back to doing his normal stuff they will either forget they said that, blame it on Tomlin, or say they didn't say it.

I remember those type of comments about Timmons too. He had a game where he played lights out and had over ten tackles before getting hurt late in the game. He missed the following week and Vince filled in with another 10 tackle performance. There were ppl calling for Vince to replace LT because he was done and Vince had the same output. They didn't like it when the breakdown showed a majority of Timmons tackles were at,near or behind the LOS while Williams ten were after the 1st down was gained or after 10 yards. Big difference in the impact. I think Woodley ruined things for us with his decline after getting paid.
