Effective today, Art Rooney II sold the Pittsburgh Steelers franchise to a consortium of former professional athletes.

The new Steelers owner and President is Sidney "the Kid" Crosby, who is still playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins. His sports association is composed of current and former Penguin players controlling local businesses, including Penguins minority owner Mario Lemieux. His hockey accomplishments include winning the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy in consecutive years and an Olympic silver medal (2026 Canada).

The Steelers Vice President is Kenneth Lee "Kenny" Stills Jr, a former NFL wide receiver. He attending the University of Oklahoma, and entered the draft after his junior year. He retired after 2021 after a 9 year career with New Orleans, Miami, and Houston.

The Administrative Assistant is Kenneth Nicholas "Nick" Nash, an NFL wide receiver. He played college for San Jose State. He spent the 2025 season on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad, and currently has a reserve/future contract with the Washington Commanders, although Omar Khan has mentioned a trade is planned shortly to assist the new owners.

To raise the necessary capital, the consortium includes minority owner Jon Steven "Steve" Young, best known as a player for the USFL Los Angeles Express and two years with Tampa Bay. His other accomplishments include riding the bench on the 1988 and 1989 Super Bowl winning 49ers teams.

There are rumors of tumultuous relationships between members, but a press release states that there are no plans for the supergroup to disband.

On a serious note, I added "tags" when I created this thread ("April Fools Day").
Are the tags used, or visible? (Or is that just an unused feature of the software?)

Mine was short and sweet a few years back.

    Mike Tomlin resigns.

And I got the standard, look at me post.

The point of the post wasn't what was done (pretend selling the team), but who was doing it (four names in bold).
For those not old enough to know the significance, I also put in a link in the last sentence for the word "supergroup" to explain the joke.

(That list of Steve Young's "accomplishments" was me thinking of some of the lazy journalists who still somehow having a job.)
