Ben modeled his game after Elway and that's why he wore #7.

Oh, of course. I get it. How could you know what I said about it 22 years ago anyway other than me telling you. :smiley1:

I'm not frustrated with you. I'm aggravated at these evaluators that absolutely suck at their jobs. I'm sorry if you took it that I am annoyed at you somehow.

It's just frustrating for me. All these people getting paid to make these evaluations and producing content and they don't know $hit, yet they are considered "experts" by people. Drives me crazy.

Beck doesn't have to be Ben. He just needs to try to have good pocket awareness and be able to move his feet while keeping his eyes downfield once in a while. One of the things Darnold did so well this past post season was his ability to occasionally make a couple guys miss with just a quick move to avoid the sack and get the ball out to a weapon. He didn't light it up at all but he made key plays, and some of those plays were simply keeping his head under pressure, making a quick move in the pocket to avoid a hit, and get rid of the ball. That's all you would want Beck to do once in a while. That takes some good footwork and the poise to not panic and find a way to safely get the ball to a back or receiver to try to make something happen and avoid taking a loss or turning the ball over.

Ben played WR until his senior year and then became QB only because the coaches son graduated. If they would have been in the same grade Ben would have never gotten to play QB.

But remember, Ben was a wide receiver up until his senior year in high school but all those draft "experts" said he wasn't mobile and couldn't avoid the rush. :roflmao:

there is potential and there is experience. same as in the NFL. would you rather have a guy with potential (howard) or a guy with experience (rodgers)? same as the draft pick. (simpson) or the kid that stayed in college for 7 years (beck)? then you have one in between like (nussmier). then you have one that was a winner at two programs and has a year in the pros. (howard).

no matter who they pick if they do, i think we will be in pretty good shape going forward with a lot of high end potential.

i'd go as far as saying our backup is like when we had batch here. some good starts and experience. like mason or not the guy is a good backup to have on your team.

I was away on vacation in the Bahamas, lots of fishing, no football.

    I like this analysis.
McCarthy is going to have a QB that he likes, period.
Should they draft Allar or Beck or any other, Mason is on the hot seat.
That seat gets hotter with the addition of Rogers.

    Why Rogers?
Rogers is the perfect mentor at this stage in his career.
Rogers is not a long term solution, there is no competition.
The Steelers can be competitive this season.

    Why Rogers, part II?
Rogers is not a QB that carry a team anymore. If the team is bad, it will finish bad.
    Rogers simply operates the offense.

What about the Rookie or Howard?
Neither are/will be projected to be a day 1 starter.
Some will say none are projected to ever be a starter.
So, the QB position is still, unaddressed.
If Beck or Howard practice play warrants a start, then maybe, the QB situation is solved.

    If Rogers does not return?
Then Mason and Howard and a rookie. (Beck for example)
It wouldn't be hard to beat out Mason, so if neither does, we still have a problem.

So bringing back Rogers or drafting a Beck as suggested is in no way a bad idea.

I think I'd be pretty excited going into camp and into the season with Rodgers, Howard and Beck.
