    This.

For my money, Beck, Allar and Simpson are all better than Mendoza.

    Again, this.

Ty Simpson doesn't lack talent. The issue with Ty Simpson is he hasn't shown the ability to play in structure, reduce turnover worthy plays and maintain a good enough Time to Throw capability consistently enough. Out of structure plays, pre snap recognition, being an efficient multi read QB along with having very good accuracy are all positive signs.

That said, signs such as these do not always equate to being a Franchise QB. Have to have that already along with the aforementioned I have outlined.

Playing out of structure all the time with his frame is a recipe for disaster at the NFL level. At 6' 1" 211 lbs, he is going to get himself killed. He doesn't have the build to take a ton of punishment IMO.

One thing I hate, putting a lot of hope in an untested 6th RD pick that didn't see any game action last season.

I like the fact they didn't put him on the field as I felt he needed to be a project at best.
But he should have played some downs, even though he was slated to start game 17 till it turned into a must win.
I also do not believe our front office has any ability to see talent better than every other team.....

So my hopes would be a near Brady-like deal, where Howard is 'pretty good'
or maybe we have a solid 2nd QB that we can trade in his last contract year for picks.
Reality hopes would be, he probably doesn't make the team. lol..... I do hope that is not the case.

I'd rather run wildcat all year than be exposed to Mason craptacular Rudolph as the QB.

Simpson has good size, just a tad shorter than we'd like, but he's built well and can take a beating.

Simpson is a very good QB. He played through injury, with a head coach that is now obviously inferior in every way to Saban and subpar pass-catchers.

I think if you judge Simpson by stats or Bama wins, you'd be missing the assignment.

All that said, not sure pick 21 is wise. If anything, if we think Simpson has just enough warts to keep others from jumping in, trade back a handful of picks in the first, gain another 3rd round pick and then take BPA/Simpson.

I'd REALLY like to see them either trade up for a stud ILB, S or WR or trade back and get more capital to trade up later. If there is any way they could add a 1st in 2027, I'd be ALL FOR THAT, provided we're not dropping too far back (say trade with Raiders or Browns, drop first or second pick of second round and get a first next year and trade back a 6th this year, something like that).

I just hope, if a player drops, like Quinyon Mitchell a couple of years ago, that we pounce and not pass them up to take a position of need.
