It was ok, but I grew up with the other version, and so:shrug:. Had I grown up with the Depp version, it my be different for me.

I enjoyed it, but it didn't have the same magic as the original.

Exactly the magic, but is it magic just because that's how we grew up with it???

That was the movie Angel in my Pocket. I don't think Knotts was in it. The only movie I can think of with both of them was No Time for Sergeants.

For me, I didn't like the Depp version at all. IMO, they tried too hard to be weird and freaky.

I don't know, both sets of grandparents sleeping in one bed is pretty weird and freaky!

Loved these "low budget" movies as a kid in the early 80's.........

    Escape From New York
    Hawk the Slayer
    Krull
    Beastmaster
    Excalibur
    Outland

Wow, I hadn't thought about Krull in a long time. I loved that as a kid and always wanted to see it again, but never have. I think I even had a toy Glaive.

Well me and my friend loved watching those Frankie Avalon movies. We were just starting to notice female body parts but still liked Eric Von Zipper the best.

I have Hawk the Slayer on DVD. I tried watching it again as an adult. It was really bad.

Krull with an unknown Liam Neeson and Robbie Coltrane.

Had this experience with Time Bandits. Loved that movie as a kid... but it wasn't as good in adulthood.

    I still like Krull.
How's about Excalibur in1981, that was two years before Krull, and it had Liam Neeson, and Patrick Stewart in it. I didn't know who they were back then.

I watched Excalibur once and I can't recall it very well. I watch it on ON TV. This weekend I will try to re-visit it.
