Digging into Beck and Im fairly certain if the Steelers get the opportunity they will draft him, probably in the 3rd. He fits MM’s offense like a glove. Highly structured, in rhythm short passing game that relies on accuracy. His game is tailored made for a west coast offense.

He thrives in structure but even know the knock on him is he is not good at creating on his own I believe it’s over exaggerated. I feel that the “not good under pressure” has become cliche though as that is the key to beating every QB but it becomes even harder for QB’s that arent as mobile and not as good playing out of structure. Beck isnt Mahomes but there are plays on tape where he has done it but hes a pocket passer first and foremost and thats where he prefers to stay as much as possible. I actually find that to be a good thing (STD just fainted). Beck has good awareness and moving around in the pocket and stepping up and will pick up yards when he needs to run but hes not a guy that will look to run first, only when he has to. One of the games I was looking at he had a game winning run for a TD with time running out. He has the ability.

    MM’s offense:

Rhythm based, slants, outs, option routes, vertical, that is literally Becks game and strength, accuracy and getting the ball out. Short throws, intermediate 20-30 yards. Throws a very pretty pass, nice touch, good deep ball.

He’s got a good head for the game, pre snap reads, adjusting protections. Can operate a progression system offense, again that is MM’s offense. He needs someone smart that can do those things, in that regard Beck is probably more pro ready than anyone else.

One of the red flags for Beck is he cant fit it into tight windows but what doesnt get a lot of attention in regards to arm strength is he had a bad elbow injury but he will be 2 years removed from that going into this season, he could regain that arm strength.

Then you got his size, he has the build you covet at QB, 6 freaking 5, 233lbs. I love that, thats Big Ben size.

I think the Steelers will take him in the 3rd. They met with him at the Combine and had him in for a visit. I definitely think MM can iron out his flaws, the biggest of which for me personally is bad turnovers in big moments. His confidence and mental makeup which I love also works against him, he’ll attempt throws he shouldn’t.

He’s a high floor but not an elite ceiling but does he have to be? Darnold just won a SB. When I first started scouting for the draft I formed an opinion about Beck in 5 seconds based off two things, his turn overs and reports were he wasn’t mobile and cant play out of structure. We form opinions very quickly when sizing a player up. Anyone that is familiar with my posts knows I love love love mobile QB’s so I was like “no” to Beck.

After digging into him, I find those things over stated, he can do enough of it when needed but will never be the focal part of his game. The turnovers, he has to get that under control, hopefully MM can work that out of him and help him with handling pressure.

But overall, I’m a Beck fan. Played a lot of games, ton of experience, a big accurate pocket QB that thrives in a structured offense that MM will get the most out of.

First i would like to know why we should bring rodgers back when we are not contender and how we can free up 20 k in cap to sign him , so i will let him stay home and draft one betwen beck or allar and go into the season with howard Rudy and one them , let them battle in camp . If one emerge as potential franchise qb good otherwise a high pick in 2027 and try again

    If it doesn’t work out
He is a couple of years from drawing
    Social Security
I would’ve been on board with this
Still kinda leaning towards him now
    But not as much

One of the things that bothers me about Beck is that he didn't shake anyone's hand to congratulate the winning team in the National Championship game.

It speaks to honoring the game and respect for the game and your opponent. If he is this childish and selfish, it tells me that he won't handle adversity well at the NFL level as he gets more public criticism and will face genuine adversity and scrutiny.

It just makes me doubt his integrity and leadership in every way.

    How someone acts in adversity
Is truly how a person is
    And in Becks case
    Definitely a sore loser

Some concerns for sure but I think the positives outweigh the negatives.

I remember having similar concerns when Pickett walked out on his teammates in his senior year bowl game and well….

Not to hijack the thread, but:

Beck is noteworthy to me because his case is a beacon to all about how college football has changed. He was the starting QB for U of Miami for the past two years and never attended a class at Miami. Graduated from Georgia two years ago. I think there was another thread about how NIL changed college football into a semi-pro league now. And Beck is a good example of that. Things have changed.

LOL. Someone thinks it is unusual that a player headed for the NFL skips a bowl game that isn't part of the playoffs. That's cute.
