Now, digging a little deeper his ground game was weak. Well below tide standards! This will hurt any QB.

Simpson played the toughest schedule in 2025, playing several ranked teams. It is not only how you played but who you played against when evaluating a quarterback. This must be facoted in.

While he only had 15 career stats, QB's often get better by their 24 or so starts, So Simpson in my opinion has more room to be better than the most qb 's that had 24 starts or more under thier belts. Which QB's did better in thier first 15 starts?

Simpson put on a show throwing at the combine . He was the best man in 2025 and IMO rates better than 95% of other QBs who threw at the combine in the last 10 years!

I hedge with him being our 1st round picks pending his wonderlic / S2 score. But I think he will do well.

Now, I think the less the Steelers say about him, the more they like him.

Ty Simpson is a good prospect, some mock drafts have the Steelers picking him in the first round. He could be a franchise QB, or he can be another Kenny Pickett. Can't miss prospects are few and far between, but Simpson could be a top 10-12 NFL QB if he's developed properly. Guess we'll see.

 

Not a fan he's under 6'2 not sure he's built for the AFC North, he also struggled in the second half of last season. And he was only a starter for one season most of those guys don't pan out in the NFL.

 

I’d be very pissed if the Steelers picked a QB in the first round this draft. Too many other needs for the team to make that reach.

 

I totally agree. Plus I only see one that I would even consider taking in the 1st round, and Ty Simpson isn't the one. Now a lot of these things change if they are taken in the 3rd, and still He wouldn't be my top 3 even then.
I pretty much only watch the SEC, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn, Pitt, and Illinois. Now of course I watch who they are playing also.

 

Well, their biggest need is QB, being that it's by far the most important position. They're never going to win anything without a franchise QB, even if they do fill other needs. Even if Rodgers comes back, this will definitely be his last year. If they really believe that Simpson (or any other QB in the 2026 draft) has the potential to be their franchise QB, I wouldn't have a problem with the Steelers drafting him in the first round. I thought they should've drafted Jaxon Dart last year, only time will tell if I was right or wrong, but I liked what I saw from Dart with the Giants last year.

 

I actually like Simpson a decent bit. I don't care at all about his size, as he is just big enough IMO. He has a nice arm, a decent enough athlete, and a live arm. He's a high level processor. However, he struggled a bit at the end of the season when his rushing offense dried up entirely and his OL started getting iffy. His ceiling is a quite good pocket passer that processes defenses well, while really not having elite traits. Brock Purdy comes to mind IMO. I think he is more talented than Purdy, but you're definitely investing in his upside. One year starter is definitely a shot in the dark, but his ceiling is good. I don't think its top 5-7 good, but there's zero reason he couldn't be as good as someone like Tony Romo. My bet on the kid is that he ends up being a quality, but not massively high end starter in the league. Guys that can process defenses and make all the throws usually end up working out.

 

Personally I'd rather just wait, but I think Simpson and Mendoza are the only first round draftable QB's. Next year's class is massively deep with high end prospects. It doesn't feel like this year's class where a bunch of dudes kinda looked okay on decent programs and shot into R1 conversation. Manning, Moore, and Sayin are massively high end talents. Leavitt has a great opportunity with Kiffin to be a first rounder. Then guys like Carr, Sellers, Maiava, Mateer, Sorsby, and Chambliss all bring some level of excitement too. Then Iamaleava is still there with Lagway. Hoover and Mensah hit the portal and got onto great teams, it will be interesting to see if they can shoot up the board as well.

 

Will Howard is 6’5” and won a National Championship. I’m willing to see if he can get the job done since he is already on the roster, rather than gamble on some other unproven QB who hadn’t had the same success.

 

I'm not really that high on Howard. I don't care how tall he is, or what he did in college. There's probably a very good reason why he dropped to the 6th round, and it's very rare that a QB drafted that late becomes anything. He'll probably be another Mason Rudolph at best.

 

I predict

Simpson won’t go in the 1st round.

Will Howard won’t be the answer

 

He may not get past the Jets.

The jets have 3 first round picks in 2027, the good draft for QBs. and just traded for a 1-year bridge QB.

You don’t really care what he did in college? Does that apply to Simpson as well or even any other player that the Steelers may draft of your liking?

 

I'd love to see the Steelers get a crack at Arch Manning, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's the #1 pick in the 2027 draft. No question the 2027 draft is a better QB class than 2026, so I don't have a problem if they wait until then. But like I said, if there's a QB in the 2026 draft that they really believe in, they should take him.

Hell no. Once He left the Razorbacks, I'm done. You know I hate that kind of Qb play. The only time I even pimped him was when I thought we were going after Malik Willis. I mean if we are going for that type of Qb play, we should at least get one taller, faster, and with a bigger arm. Now if we got him in the 4th , and he agreed to play the slash role, that's a different thing. Wrs/TE/RB/Qb/whatever. LoL
