I am sitting here watching sportscenter and this live pop up of rg3 on the field pops up. Is it me or is this network really becoming a joke? I dont watch much but the steelers are so i thought they might get some coverage but they would rather focus on a second year qb who is not playing. Is it just me?

Interesting you would mention that cause just a few days ago I was reading something (I forgot where) about the evolution of ESPN from covering sports and sporting events to covering celebrities (Lebron, Tebow, RGIII, etc.). They mentioned how more time is spent on SportsCenter covering things like Kobe's latest tweets than actual game analysis. The interesting thing to me is how much time ESPN has gone to in some cases creating stories and pushing celebrity. Kind of sad if you ask me. I miss the old ESPN.

Long story short I too only watch ESPN when one of my teams is on.

Exactly! Even if that is their new format i wish they would make it more balanced. Hell they talk more about sanchez than any player from pitt or say tampa. I just get sick of them playing favorites. My cable company doesnt offer nfl network so i am stuck with them. I guess i will continue to watch big bang reruns and read the paper online.lol

LOL! How many times have you disparaged NFLN on this MB because of all of their lame top 10 lists. Now you're their biggest fan. :lolol: Are you a tad bit bi-polar, BFT?

I'm just messin' with you, friend. ;)

Agreed. I could watch the SportsCenter reruns all morning. Now I DVR one in the AM and fast forward through 90 percent of it.

RG III has been getting a lot of media attention since he came into the league. I can't figure out why cause he hasn't done anything yet.. I had heard when he came to the Burgh to play last year, he looked like a boy among men and he was the boy. Just don't get all the media attention, enough already!

Yeah, he's the latest hot thing for them. And he is tremendously talented.

But, I like being under the radar with no one talking about us. We seem to do better when that happens.

If you remember far enough back, they did the same thing for Kordell Stewart around 1997. Unlimited upside, redefining the QB position. The media is attracted by the next shiny thing that catch their eye. But the locals wallowed in that lovefst too,

ESPN has become more story driven about the celebs which why they have ESPN 2, ESPNews, ESPNU, ESPN College, ESPN 3 and so on. THe flag ship can stray away from actually sports because the rest of the family will pick it up.

NO! I'm NOT bi-polar! That is just STUPID! Oh! Hey Jack! What's up dude!? How are ya?! Yeah NFL Network in the offseason is all about the "Top 10" shows but during the season I think they're the best. The one problem I have with them DURING the season though is that they have got in to having entire shows dedicated to fantasy football. I think that's ridiculous. But for actual analysis I they're by far my favorite. I'M NOT BI-POLAR!!!!!!! Jack you are one of my best buddies! :D:yahoo::)

I really liked ESPN Classic though because they used to show so much classic boxing which is something I really love.

I'm not wowed by ESPN anymore (used to be my version of the "evening news"), but I think anyone's coverage of RG3 is well-warranted. He's up and coming, has tremendous talent, brings something new to a team that's been languishing under horrible management for years, and is something exciting and fresh in football. As for the Skins in general, I'd take Cousins as a backup QB and Kyle Shannihan as OC in a heartbeat. I guess I'm seeing them all as a team who is actually trying to take something that has sucked and make it better, and I won't let my die-hard Steeler fan blood keep me from slighting other players/coaches/teams who deserve some attention and maybe even respect.

Lambast away... I can take it. :)
