They do but not all and it is only for one day. The Steelers asked their players what type of surface they wanted they said grass. Replace it with field turf and to he'll with the players.

Remember Troy was a big advocate for them keeping natural grass even going as far as practicing barefoot because he thought he could get a better feel when he planted and turned. I honestly believe that the league and players union breathed a sigh of relief when he retired because his thoughts on diet, nutrition, weight training and football were way too progressive for where the league was at at that time. He could have changed the game.

If there was a known "better blend", then why haven't they already switched to it? The field has been s**t for years now.

Used to play it in my first and only cover band. Saw them a times with Molly Hatchet.

Dangerous when driving, the last riffing in the song makes the accelerator go down.

Ive played in quite a few cover band, and we never covered it, too many bands I've played in don't like the same music as I do.

It falls along the line of Free Bird and Gator Country. All favorites of mine. Free Bird was the first one I heard with the drawn out solos. I remember where I was and what I was doing the first time I heard it.

Agreed that they seem to replace the field at least once per year. I also seem to remember that they have switched grass blends too over the years, touting it as an upgrade.

I think the issue just comes back to usage and growing temperatures. Some local school districts manage how much their competition grass fields are used. In those instances, those fields always look better than practice fields or other high usage fields.

Need to go back to turf. The artificial turf in 2026 is much better than it was in 1970... when Steelers first started using 3 Rivers Stadium.

I still love the clips of Al Davis complaining about the frozen turf at 3 Rivers and Pete Rozelle telling him it was frozen for both teams and affects them equally. Davis telling him he didnt know what he was talking about because Oaklands vertical passing game was built on speed which was hampered by an icy field with no purchase for that speed.
