Green is green but intriguing. Maybe someone MM can mold into something in a few years.

A sixth round pick is a near throwaway. Doesn't have to be much of a reason to make the pick other than filling out the QB room.

Im sure there is a reason Howard fell to the 6th but I’d rather see an unknown younger guy than a 43 year old who we know the ceiling on. Willis just seems way too expensive on a weak FA market to mess with. The draft this year beyond Mendoza is incredibly weak. Ugh

I definitely don’t want ARod back and I don’t want us taking Ty in rd 1. If he is still there in rd 3 maybe.

Steelers have hit on some 6-7 rounders. Antonio Brown, Kelvin Beachum and Brett Kiesel.

Now the problem there is, 'are they speaking coach speak.' (They are never going to say what they really think)

Howard in my opinion, probably is not going to be an instant gratification QB which they've indicated they want.
As I figure, I think if they could work a deal 1 or 2 for like Kirk Cousins, (Although, He's not the ideal mentor but just to use a name)
Then you have someone to help Howard. And it would definitely help in the actual assessment - even as early as preseason.
It really should have been Rogers, he was perfect.

Earlier I was pro - trade for Mac Jones. Not so much now.
But I would like a decent Vet...
Howard is not a bad plan.

Why not Mason? Unless they see and get performances I do not see.
Maybe he does answer the bell, I'm pessimistic but would welcome a mini Sam Darnold scenario.

I don’t think Mason is anything more than a spot start backup. I have seen enough of him over the years to think that is the case. Maybe MM can work magic. I just don’t want AR back or even a Kirk Cousins. Those dudes are nothing more than a 1 year stop gap to try and win 9 games.

And how many 6th and 7th round picks are gone before the paint dries on their Nameplate?

A fool and his money are soon parted; as for me I would rather have a jersey at these prices.

    Agree on Mason.
But not quite agree on the vet.

Rogers, I think we missed the window. Last year was the year for that.
Cousins who I only named dropped... but 1 or 2 year deal will not kill us. But he's not going to agree to a situation where we say, "You'll start some games until we see if Howard can do it" So that isn't a possibility in my mind.
But if did, then I would.
Still taking a QB in the first round in 27

No to Murray, No to Willis, No to Winston, no to Geno.

ARII wants to contend, i dont see Howard starting. I hope he gets a shot as a backup though. This would seem to be the year we see him get some meaningful playing time.

He should play a lot in the preseason but after watching KP in those games not sure what you can actually take away. If Rodgers comes back he almost certainly misses more than 1 game next year so I would think Howard might get a few starts if he beats out Mason.

    That's Mac Jones.
Matt Jones was the Razorbacks Qb that they made switch to Wr when he went into the NFL. You know the thing people tried saying never happens to lesser pigmented Qbs.

What about the losing years between Ben, and Bradshaw??? How come we didn't get a great QB on those losing seasons??

Someone tell me if Willis, and Mac Jones are so good why would they want to let then go, especially when they know that both of those teams need a good backup. You people are getting fooled, like the Jets did off of Fields.

The steelers draft in the top 10 only 3 times between Bradshaw and Ben(1987,1989 and 2000).The steelers still had a first ballot HOF corner in 1987 so it was not nothing!

But thank god the steelers did not win one more game in the 2003 season!

The contract of Willis is over,so nothing the packers can do...No team want to paid starter money at the backup position. The 49ers want to keep Jones, the only way he will be gone is if they have a big offer for a trade

Well there is a losers mentality

We made the playoffs and after watching the teams in the superbowl on a good day we could have beat either team

We need to pick well with our top 5 picks in the draft and have a quarterback who can at least do average

Right now AR may be the best option available

If Howard out plays him then so be it

    You play to win

Maybe so. But guys like Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, Brock Purdy, Tony Romo, Matt Hasselbeck, Rich Gannon, Warren Moon, Marc Bulger, Brad Johnson, Rodger Staubach, etc. prove that it is possible to find good-to-great QBs in late rounds or even undrafted. It's also possible to ruin a potential early round QB if thrusting him into the wrong system with poor coaching.

Eventually, a young QB is going to have to become the next BigBen for us. That does not mean if we do bring ARod back for 2026 that we have ruined our chances for that happening, or even delayed it. I'm ok with the idea of Will Howard, but if he rides the bench this season, the coaches are still going to know if he's their guy going forward. Or if he's worth taking the chance with by week one. It's kinda what those guys do.

No to Cousins. His arm is in the same shape as Manning's at the end. Watch his last game how he had to put his entire body into throws just to get it 15 yds. Rodgers still had a gun but at some point that won't be true. Even last season he had some throws that were like 'wth?'.
