I think this was at least as much about who was throwing it as it was about the HC (or the OCs).

I think Mitch is the thing that kind of proves this out. Felt like he'd throw deep over the middle pretty often. Usually to guys on the other team.

The passing chart of Trubisky(and other QB for the steelers)were just brutal but it was worst with him

Rarely he was throwing in the middle of the field,he had several deep pass but often it was on the sideline out of bounds or very low percentage play

A quick search and this is what I found (KP on the left MT on the right). The depot doesn't allow for copying of text or grabbing the url of images.
    https://steelersdepot.com/2022/10/steelers-quarterback-passing-locations-week-6-vs-buccaneers/

There are several different images showing passing in this article (but I admit I only looked at it quickly). Sample doesn't seem to be super large.

Maybe the most telling is the QB1 (KP) vs QB2 (MT) plot at the bottom. Notice how Kenny has more throws short in the flats. Mitch has more everywhere else (especially middle intermediate).

Mitch isn't some superstar throwing over the middle.

But he did it much more than KP did.

Very different behavior despite being in the same offense coached by the same HC and OC.

[Ha...got one of these from a google image search...the differential one in the linked post above is probably better]

I remember the game vs Bucs in 2022.Likely the only good game of Trubisky with us!

Of course he had also 2-3 interceptions in the middle of the field vs ravens later in the season. He was awful!

Here are a couple passing charts from Mitch that came up in a quick google search. Again, not a ton over the middle. But way more than you'd expect by looking at the other QB who was playing in the same offense under the same coaches.

    He was certainly awful!

I remember feeling like he was just fishing for some highlight reel plays he could put on a sizzle reel when he was looking for work after we had Kenny starting (when I was optimistic that Kenny could play QB in the NFL).

They ars 17 years apart in special effects, and other movie magic. I loved 13th Warrior, and I loved the book which came out in the late 70s (I believe)Eaters of the Dead

It's what I try telling everyone, and most that has played know this.
It's all about the Qb. They(OCs) are calling plays that have routes to the middle of the field, I see them all the time, whether the Qb throws there is up to them, and no two Qbs see the field the same. This is why even with the exact same OC, and HC, the ball goes to different spots more frequently by whomever the Qb is. I have proven that when we Had Mason, Trubisky, and Pickett playing the same year, and then when we had Fields, and Wilson playing the same year. No OC, or HC says.....hey that route maybe open, but don't throw it there if it is. They say .... on this play look here 1st if so, and so is happening, here 2nd, here 3rd, and so on, they do not say, don't throw it to they guy that's open. Yet somehow people actually believe they do, and I get a kick out of it.
Yes , You may hear an interview later saying....we tried staying away from the middle of the field because WE(coaches) thought it was better that way. What they are doing, as all good coaches are, is not throwing their Qbs under the bus, and saying, yeah the middle of the field was open all day, but our Qb was seeing ghost, doesn't see the field well, or is afraid to throw it there. Only HC I've ever heard throw their Qb under the bus in recent memory is S. Payton, and he's a d!ck

The Matrix was made the same year as 13th Warrior and it's special FX is better than most CGI that I see today with modern movies.

I've recently watched Running Man, Tron Ares and Predator Badlands. All 3 look great...but Matrix looks just as good.

Michael Crichton, great author. Read several of his books but never got around to Eaters of the Dead.

Yes he has many great books. You should read it. I find it crazy that so many of his books have been made into movies.
Did You see 13th Warrior movie that was made from it??

Some books are better than movies. I like Cormac McCarthy's The Road better as a book... than the movie. Movie was OK... but the book was amazing, IMO.

But then again... I thought "No Country for Old Men" movie... was just as good as the book.

JMO , but from the books I've read that have been made into shows, and movies 97% of the books are better. Sometimes I'm glad I haven't read a book before I've seen the shows/movies.
    Example:
I Am Legen, the book has been made into 5 different movies that I can think of off the top of my head, and they haven't gotten it right yet. If You take all 5, and mash them together, and edit, you may actually get the book. LoL

I'll be damned for all eternity in the center of dead planet buried alive for saying this.... but I like the extended LOTR movies better than the books! :lolol:

Also... I thought Davinci Code movie was just as good as the book (Dan Brown).

I actually do also. Although, and I got a paddling back in the 9th grade for telling my English literature teacher this. I thought the LOTR books were boring. There I said it. LoL. I told Her that if she thought LOTR was the best fantasy ever written, she hasn't read much fantasy. Then she sent me into the hall, and called the Principal, and I got 3 licks for supposedly interrupting the class. She was just mad. LoL

Agree 100%. Peter Jackson and co-writers did a helluva job cutting out all the boring stuff and rolling with what was interesting and would translate well to film, without harming the overall story and canon.

Some major nerds are pissed about Tom Bombadil not being in Fellowship... but he's in Rings of Power.

sometimes being able to actually see things in books move on screen----is better than just words and imagination from reading --but as I said <sometimes>Depends what it is...but books seem to go so much more into things..I mean I would rather watch the Steelers than read play by play--:thumbs up:

    That would be my guess

They will not go into the season without a veteran starter

    Purely my thoughts
