AR is the best option ..He played well to have a horrid WR core a novice at OC , and a head Coach who didn't really care to score until late .. Plus we avoided the middle and thats the exact weak spots in zone coverage..

AR can keep Will from learning a new system, learning the new weapons and still learning the QB spot in the NFL in general...Let him watch and learn get his mental game together , get Coached up without taking a beating or killing his confidence....

I don't want to watch another season of Aaron Rodgers being too afraid to take a hit and quit on a play too soon. I also don't see why anyone would want another teams second string QB. If Willis or Jones were that good, they would be starting. We have a QB with size and potential, lets see what he has before we start trading draft capital for guys we already know aren't starters. I don't want better 2nd string QB's that may or may not be better than what we already have, I want an elite franchise QB and we already know Rodgers is past his shelf life, Willis isn't and has never been good enough and Mac Jones cant beat out the last player selected in the draft.....but our 6th round steal isn't better? I say let the kid play, learn, take the hits, lets see if he does have what it takes! I know he wants the chance and I know he has the heart to give it everything he got!!

I think it’ll be Rodgers, it just makes the most sense given the pieces that are now in place. Now if only we could fast-forward to the draft!

Baker Mayfield was a former top draft pick who went through a time as a backup, then emerged as a quality starter in the NFL.

Sam Darnold is a former top draft pick who struggled, went through a time as a backup, then emerged as the starting quarterback for the Super Bowl champions.

This notion that someone who was a backup at one point can't be the starter simply doesn't hold up.

Jones and Willis both started their careers in bad situations, then got to work with better coaches and improved. A guy like that is where the value of McCarthy comes in. If he thinks one of them can be the guy, they are worth a shot.

I guess the next guy up on the QB parade through Pittsburgh is Anthony Richardson. A lot of smoke coming from the media about Richardson demanding a trade, and the #1 landing spot seems to be Pittsburgh.

Keep in mind, I am still holding out for 25 year old, Free Agent Trey Lance.

You might have argument from fans of Rodgers backing up Favre, or Love backing up Rodgers. Sometimes it's just about opportunity.

I was initially against bringing in Rodgers at all. But from what I saw last season, he's still a very capable QB. He still has it in his head and in his arm. He's just old, slow and potentially fragile. So, if Rodgers is the guy, you have to beef up the O line to keep him clean and let him do his thing. I think he could have a very good season if kept clean.

    What's easier to do...

Install a QB who can have a great season with our Oline?

Solidify our Oline so that Rogers can have a great season?

And both require a legit receiving threat beyond DK.

I think the acquisition cost will probably be too high.

But if Omar can swing a reasonable deal for Jones, that's the best option on this list IMO.

I'm going to go out on a limb.

They are going to work out a trade of some sort for an established QB#1.

Probably in the middle to good tier category.

Just a guess. We have a lot of time to make wild guesses throwing darts with our eyes closed.

Agreed!! I would rather go Howard week 1 than either one of those guys. I hope they don't even consider it.

Scratch Mendoza throwing at the combine. Next man up. Mark my words, one of these guys 'will surprise' at the combine. But if a team bases their pick on the underwear Olympics then they are truly foolish.

Another QB has the chance to shine and fool a team into reaching

Below are the remaining 15 QB prospects fans and teams will watch participate in Indianapolis:

    • Joey Aguilar, Tennessee
    • Drew Allar, Penn State
    • Luke Altmyer, Illinois
    • Carson Beck, Miami
    • Jalon Daniels, Kansas
    • Joe Fagnano, UConn
    • Taylen Green, Arkansas
    • Haynes King, Georgia Tech
    • Cade Klubnik, Clemson
    • Behren Morton, Texas Tech
    • Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
    • Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt
    • Cole Payton, North Dakota State
    • Sawyer Robertson, Baylor
    • Ty Simpson, Alabama
Last year, Colorado's Shedeur Sanders declined to throw at the Combine and saw his draft stock plummet from projected top-10 pick all the way to the fifth round. In the void he left, prospects previously projected to be Day 2 or 3 selections had all the focus on them, and they took advantage of that spotlight.

That's how Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart (No. 25 overall) and Louisville's Tyler Shough (No. 40) saw their stock skyrocket after participating in Indianapolis. Could any of the above be the next big risers?

I'm also not suggesting Mendoza is going to see his stock drop like Sanders did. It's incredibly hard to imagine the Raiders getting cold feet after the perfect season he helped orchestrate for the Hoosiers, and not throwing in Indy is far from the only reason Shedeur fell on draft weekend.

His noted absence from throwing exercises, however, just provides the rest of the field a chance to entice a QB-needy team like the Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers to reach for a surprise prospect. Alabama's Ty Simpson could be a tempting candidate considering he's already gotten a boost of positive media coverage in recent weeks, and Garrett Nussmeier was receiving first-round buzz as recently as 12 months ago. With nowhere else for front offices to look, prospects will have a chance to make a huge impression.

    As Ben Solak says:
"It's a good year to need Fernando Mendoza
A Bad year to need anyone else."

The overall Free Agent market isn't really grading very good.
The draft is kind of lukewarm as well.

I think it’s best to give Howard a shot based on how high they seem to be on him. See what you got and if it doesn’t work you draft a QB high in 27.

Tua no way. Kyler probably not either but if it was a team friendly price maybe you could try it for a year if Howard isn’t ready.

From what I saw and read last year Will Howard was outplayed in Camp last year by Skylar Thompson. If Will Howard had not gotten injured, there would have been a good chance he would have been waived and signed to the practice squad like many 6th round picks.

I too, don't understand all the Will Howard hype.

I don't know that there's all that much hype. But we drafted him for some reason. He won a big 12 title and lead Ohio State to a 14-win season, with school-record in passing efficiency. John Gruden seems to love him. Big Ben wants to see him play.

He's an unknown in the NFL. And fans will always be attracted to the unknown when the known isn't getting the job done.

Also, I don't know that he had much of a competition with Skylar Thompson. Howard broke a finger early in camp.
