He has an incredible need after those 2 bozos butchered it.

But he's a procrastinator. He's easily distracted. And he's rolling in money, so his motivation is low.

He fancies himself to be Tyrion. But he's really Robert. He won the throne, and then got fat and lazy. Disinterested in doing the job everyone wanted him to do.

It didn't help that the questions stopped being "When is the next book coming out?" And started being "Will anyone finish the books after you die? You're going to die soon, you know?" While the impatience is warranted, that kind of language was cruel.

I'll never forget when he did some panel event with Stephen King. He asked King how he wrote so quickly. King said something like, "I get up in the morning. Sit at my typewriter. And write." SK treats it like a 9-5 job. George treats it like a hobby. With all of the attention of a toddler with ADHD. "Ohhh! Look! Shiney!" And forgets to write anything today... this week... this year... this friggin DECADE. And he's too overindulgent with himself. Getting himself involved with tons of projects where he can't focus on anything - much less his main one.

He's a brilliant storyteller. But sadly, his legacy will be the guy who couldn't get the job done. And allowed others to ruin what should have been his masterpiece.

I am just going to say it because I am an Ass-Hole. I think George lost all interest in it when the children grew up. No more writing about adults having sex with children. If you read the books you know what I mean, as the HBO series went out of its way to make all the children older than they were in George's writings. (Like: Daenerys Targaryen was 13 years old when she married Khal Drogo.)

It is going to kind of be like the Peanuts series. After the author dies, eventually the family will allow someone else to take over the Storyline to cash in on their father's legacy.
